"A lovely story of growing beyond your past, taking control of your life, and allowing yourself to be loved for the person you are." -- Melanie Moreland, New York Times Bestselling Author For every wound, there is a scar.I'm happy to report the tabloids are right. Fame has ruined Liam McGuire. He's spoiled. And rude. And it doesn't matter how sinfully sexy he is on the outside, it's what's inside that matters most. And that man is rotten to the core. But then that night happened. A night when I needed someone the most, he was there. His strong arms wrapped around me. His lips brushed against my neck as he whispered all the things I needed to hear. That night, I began to feel something for him. Something real. Something rare.Until morning came with a curt reminder that he’s rockstar royalty and I’m…not. Maybe I’m cursed. Maybe I should just swear off all men.Maybe it’d be better for both of us if I could just walk away…"A masterful blend of joy and angst."Wounded is a standalone contemporary romance set in the small town of Brookside. First what I didn't like. The author thinks it's a good idea to hook up an alcoholic with a single mom. Really? And then his sister and Lexi thinking she will be good for him. Again, Really? Thank goodness they were secondary characters or my kindle would not have survived. Now, what I did like. Everything else. Great story. Great characters. Real life scenerios. Amazing insight into the mind of someone suffering a horrific loss. Wonderful ending. Excellent writing. Never did the story feel rushed. I could actually feel the pain of Michael's death and Liam not being there. The tired feeling of being strong for so long was felt. The feeling nobody cares unless there is something in it for them. So many emotions in this book. The author did a good job of describing through everyday events how these 2 people heal. It wasn't love conquers all. It was because I love you, we will find solutions. Liam didn't magically fix everything by throwing money at it. Hard work was involved. Although Bailey just had to be herself to help Liam with his issues, being aware and forcing him to follow her budget took work. Think how easy it would be to just tell someone, spend your money on me. I'd highly recommend this book.

This is a stand alone read with no cliffhangers. the story is about two wounded souls. He is a big rock star, performing since he was 14. Everyone wants a piece of him without really caring about him or who he really is. His tour bus had a terrible accident that put him in the hospital in a small town in Ohio. He is spoiled and a total selfish brat, tired of being used but he allows himself to stay in the pattern. He is suffering from a scar to his face and he is angry, bitter and hitting out at everyone. He decides he is not going back to Hollywood, he is going to stay in the town, in secret, and heal his soul as well as his body. He decides he will stay with the nurse that he has given nothing but grief.

The nurse has a lot of issues as well. Her parents and boyfriend died tragically and she takes full responsibility. Her younger brother is a drunk and she takes total responsibility for that. She has not discovered that you cannot control another person's actions or reactions, so she wears the hair shirt. She really doesn't want the rock star in her house but she feels his pain and thinks she can help.

So they spend the majority of the book trying to figure out the other's way of life and circumstances. Now, he is suppose to stay undercover so that no one would know he was still in town. I would imagine this character is based a bit on Justin Bieber. So, what does she do? She takes him to the local bar to have him meet with her brother. I have to wonder why she didn't just invite the brother over! But their big secret blows up in their faces. He is really liking this gal and the peaceful way of life in the small town.

Lots of drama and soul searching. Interesting read and I would recommend it to those that like the drama that some star crossed lovers go through.

I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 8/9/17.

I was needing something lighter to read but still have some romance and Wounded was perfect for this! Bailey and Liam are the perfect story with the best ending. Even through all the loss Bailey stands strong and Liam is right beside her.

First I just want to say this book has brought me to tears . I needed a lot of tissue Bailey went through a lot for one person . She lost her boyfriend ,parents all in one day my heart broke for her 😢. I was happy that she met Liam he was definitely her knight that came and sweep her off her feet . He had a lot of hurt as well being a famous singer and wanting to just be done with it I kind of felt bad for him . Crazy fans and all that's too much . I liked Michael I just wish he would have talked with his sister and told her that he loved her and put some of their guilt in the past so they could move on. One thing I didn't like was his drinking it made it really bad as you continue to read more about him . Lexi was a true spitfire and kept Bailey on her toes lol . Lexi and Michael was a perfect fit too bad we couldn't get more of them together . Enjoyed Michelle as well a good attention to the group . I'm counting down the time I can read more from Abby Brooks especially Lexi's story . Good Job !!! 👍

This wasn't a bad story, but there were things I wasn't good with. I felt like what happened with Michael was overkill. It wasn't necessary and with all that had happened in that family already it just came off as too much of the same theme.
Bailey was a cow. End of. Sitting around in her figurative 'sack cloth and ashes' for 8 years wasn't admirable, and her constant guilt was grating to the nerves. I felt no empathy for her because of her constant wallowing and moaning about being cursed. Liam was far too good for her. I was okay with it all until around 94%. Bailey was already on my last nerve, but I officially hated her from that point on. I wish Liam would have dumped her whiny, guilt tripping butt. I hated it that Liam called her a queen. She's already a demanding, entitled, stubborn brat and will no doubt make his life miserable. He deserved better.
Three stars for effort, but I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend it.

Wow, wow, wow. I didn't know what to expect when I picked this book up but I was unprepared for the emotional impact this beautiful story had on me. I know Abby Brooks can write, but my goodness she has taken her skill to another level.
Not going to lie, there are parts of this book that are hard to read. There's so much loss that when the happier moments happen, it's a genuine relief. Read with tissues!
