We Said Forever Kindle Edition
Love isn’t enough to heal when you’ve shattered a heart.
Love isn’t enough to make you forget.
Love isn’t enough to make you look back when you’re supposed to be moving forward.
Love just—isn’t enough.
I broke Fallyn McIntyre, and in doing so I broke myself.
Betrayal, addiction, and years separate us.
I’m no longer the man I used to be.
But I’m still not sure I’m man enough.

About the author

Marie James: I'm a full-time author, mother of two boys, and wife of 18+ years. Dog Mom to four great danes: Maximus, Sassy, Kiki, and Hagrid
I've spent almost my entire lifetime living in central Texas, with only short stays in South Carolina, Alabama, and Florida. Currently residing in a sleepy little town in East Tennessee.
Writing is my passion, and I absolutely love being able to sit down and put all of my thoughts and emotions into my stories.
I love dogs, coffee, making handmade cards, and reading steamy romance novels!

What an emotional read this book was. At times I felt hopeless. Drugs are a hard topic to get right in a book and this story didn't sugar coat it or make drug use sound like a good experience. There were lots of times that made me wonder at the strength people need to have to deal with an addict and how hard it is for an addict to stay clean. Lots of mixed feelings and distrust. That's a hard thing to deal with but, this story dealt with the issues beautifully. Well written and perfectly portrayed.
Blaze has an awful start to his life. The product of two addict parents he is determined to never fall down that rabbit hole. He loves his college life and status as the star quarterback for his team. Party, party, party! But never drugs! Enter Fallyn, one look and he's fallen head over heels in love. She is hard to get and he is prepared to chase. One stupid, STUPID, mistake is all it takes. Life is crumbling around them and drugs are all he can think.
Can he straighten his life out? Can Fallyn ever trust him?
It's a real rollercoaster of a ride but well worth the read.
This is my first book from Marie James but I wouldn't hesitate to read more.
A Book Lovers Emoprium.
Fallyn to be very strong showing little emotion and Blaze to be selfish and didn't deserve the chances he got but I suppose love does stupid things to people, this book was written well. Looking forward to reading more from Marie.
Blaze grew up in a house of addicts, his Mum and Dad both high most of the time, he swore he would never end up like them; so he worked hard and earned a football scholarship and eventually he became the star quarterback for his team. Life was good, lots of woman hanging off his every word, parties, booze - life couldn't get much better - or so he thought.
When at a party one night celebrating a big win for the team he see's Fallyn and for him it's an OMG moment, he wants her and although they share a dance and a kiss - she walks away at the end of the night. Blaze can't stop thinking about her and he makes it his mission to find her and wear her down.
Fallyn is not all that impressed by football players and all they stand for, she is studying hard and doesn't want any distraction of the Blaze sort even though that one kiss they shared gave her butterflies in her stomach, she puts him to the back of her mind. But Blaze is relentless, and that leads to the one night where everything changes in both their lives. A split second decision made; an endless stream of tears and anger.
This story is about their relationship - but it is so much more and you will have to read this book to experience the highs and the lows and all the emotions that come with a new relationship.
This book was difficult to read because it was gut wrenching, sad, but full of hope as well. I loved both lead characters they were so well written, and at times so bloody frustrating to read, especially Blaze. My god that man, I wanted to squeeze him tight and never let him go and then in the next chapter I would want to beat some sense into him, my heart was all over the place. I hated him, I loved him - I was back and forth like a yo yo.
Fallyn so strong, so forgiving, so loyal she was an absolute delight to read and get to know, I bonded with her straight away and my admiration for her only grew the further the book progressed.
Wonderful storytelling at it's best and yes your heart will go through he ringer, sometime it will sore high, sometimes sink like a heavy stone thrown into a lake but isn't that what the best books do - take us on a roller coaster ride that we will long sit and think about way after the story finishes and what a fabulous book this is.
A MUST read !!!!!
A pity Julian wasn't more in the picture as his involvement was skimmed over. Like most stories the nice guy doesn't always win.
If you like the angst of addiction & the fight involved you'll enjoy this story.

So many honest feelings and realistic characters packed into one story, that you can't help but get completely drawn into their lives and all the heartbreak that comes with it.
Wishing and hoping for that HEA that the two main characters deserve ... And thankfully get.
Must read!

Blaze is the son of addicts who were neglectful and demoralising. He found a way out through football and worked his butt off to be the best quarterback he could be in Vegas, but his childhood demons still haunt him as he's constantly worried that everything good will come crashing down and he'll end up back on the trash heap where he started. At a party one night, chance has him meeting Fallyn. At first, she thinks he's your typical, arrogant jock and he was to a certain degree. He's determined to win her over, however, instantly smitten with her. Unfortunately, Blaze has an addictive personality with a tendency to binge drink. When a few drinks gone wrong ends up with Blaze testing positive for narcotics, his life takes a turn for the worse. His arrest leads him on a downwards spiral of hate and substance abuse that makes him put pills first in order to escape the direction his life has taken.
Throughout all of this is his unwavering love for Fallyn, but unfortunately, he wasn't strong enough to choose her over drugs. Add to this Fallyn's own troubled past, a quick marriage and a baby and you have a very emotional story. Fallyn's relationship with Blaze is the focus throughout the book, even when his addiction is too much for both of them to handle. It frustrated the living daylights out of me at times, especially when Fallyn has another perfect guy who was willing to do anything to be with her, but I loved how the author made the story about Blaze and Fallyn's troubled relationship. There was no glamorising of drugs and their abusers, but the author did a really good job of highlighting the lows as well as the struggles that come with addiction.
A few bits, especially their quick fire relationship, was a bit over the top. Fallyn did quite a bit of whimpering and giving in to the hotness that was Blaze. They fall in love pretty much straight away and from there, things move fast. There are a few triggers brought up in this book - addiction, drugs and neglectful parenting and, briefly, gang rape (not to a main character and only as a back story). Fallyn's placement of another guy in the friend zone had my heart breaking for him as he was perfect and loved her, but I get why the author ended things. It still made me sad, though.
Like I said, this isn't something that I would have normally picked out, but I really enjoyed it. It was a unique, heartfelt story that had a lot of low points for the main characters, but had them triumph at the end. Be warned - this isn't a book where everything is nice and works out neatly. Blaze's football career is well and truly over so if you're looking for a happy sports romance, this isn't it. Think instalove, but with a plethora of issues that you see the couple go through over several years. They're actually apart more in the story than they are together. One thing that didn't waver, though, was Blaze's love for Fallyn and this made all of the heartache worth struggling through. I'm glad I read this book. Even though I got it for free, I would have happily paid for it. I will read more by this author in the future.
