Until I Fall Kindle Edition

4.2 4.2 out of 5 stars 1,003 ratings

I gave my heart to a Navy SEAL.
He took it with him to his grave.
Eleven years later, ignoring the yawning void is as automatic as breathing. Working brutal hours, dating a comfortably commitment-phobic guy, hanging with my best friends. Anything until exhaustion—or an extra glass of wine—claims my consciousness.

And then my comfort zone is invaded by Anderson Hawkins' piercing green eyes.
He says he’s a tattoo artist, but his mastery of the short answer, weird schedule, and military ink tell a different story.

His touch ignites a long-dead flame inside me.
But can I touch it without being completely scorched from the inside out?
I'm at the edge of a cliff. I just don't know if he'll catch me until I fall.

Note: This contemporary romance contains a former military hero accustomed to treading dangerous ground, and a wary, overworked doctor who’s a military widow in every way but name, brought together by a few unexpected twists and turns—and maybe the machinations of a cute dog.

I need to start by saying that the more I read by Claudia the more I see her develop as a writer. Her ability to connect with her readers, to deliver beautiful heartfelt storylines, shows her dedication and growth as an author.

I was lucky enough to Beta read this. From the first inital book to the final pages you are all lucky enough to read, I have watched thoughts, dreams, stress and uncertainty be recreated into a stellar Novel you are reading.

Aspen and Anderson are two beautiful souls. There story is one of Hope, Friendship, Trust, Love and Second Chances.

Until I Fall will pull at your heart strings (no I didn't cry like many others) but I felt the emotions that Aspen was facing. Watching Aspen face her fears of loving again. Watching Anderson fight for her and the patience and understanding he has is admirable.

Plus I gotta love the added scenes with my favourite Deckers

This is a beautiful story of lost love , second chances and family. Beautifully written its a slow burn , a story of a young ED doctor working constantly trying to forget the pain of losing the love of her life , who was lost at war. Until the Gorgeous Anderson another military man comes into her life and the battle now is not to fall again.

Anderson , is sexy , compassionate and loving. The relationship between him and is mother is heartbreaking beautiful. I dare you not to fall in love with Anderson and Sophie.
The friendship between Aspen and Brynn is what girls friendships should be. There for each other no matter what.
The book was a bit long and at times I did want to say to Aspen get over it but otherwise I really enjoyed this book

This book could have been a 5 Star story, but due to the many spelling, grammatical and phrase errors, which had me re reading sentences or just pausing me from the flow of the story, this is a 3-3.5 Star though nevertheless, I did like all the characters.

Until I Fall
By: Claudia Burgoa
Narrated by: Zachary Webber, Isabel Del Castillo

This is such a wonderful story, it not only grabbed and captivated my attention the entire time, but it tugged on my heartstrings too. I adored the lead characters, the secondary and support characters are amazing too. Aspen and Michael were engaged and would marry after he served his country and she would finish school. But died before they were married and it was something she never got over and could not move on. She finished med school and dedicated her life to saving others. She and her roommate befriended her neighbor and when she became ill, she wanted to help her get thru it, she had not met her son, Anderson aka Hawk, and when she does, she is not sure what to think or maybe he just makes her think, opens her heart that has been closed off too. Despite her dating someone she never gave him her heart, she felt it would betray the lover how her life, Michael. She never gave thought to the possibility of having two loves in a lifetime, but then again, she just focused on work and her friends. Her relationship with her Mom was not the best, and it was easier for her to not deal with that or to even take care of the estate of her late father, which she kept putting off. Hawk left the service, but joined another type of organization that deals with special operative types of missions. He came home to spend time with his sick Mom and wanted to be there for her as much as he could, but he still had some missions to complete. He was totally smitten with Aspen, though she was a tough cookie, one worth working for, which he did, and it was an uphill battle with her. Hawk was great, and the more I got to know him, the more I fell for him. The complexity of the characters and world building is fantastic, as are all the layers of the story. I loved how everything played out in this wonderfully written and cleverly plotted story, it has the perfect balance of drama, heartfelt and emotional moments, some action and thrilling suspense, and a fabulous romance. Claudia Burgoa, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Zachary Webber and Isabel Del Castillo were the perfect cast to bring these characters to life, and they did so with the complete understanding of who these characters were, giving each a voice that fit them to a tee. Del Castillo’s Aspen was spot on, she grasped every side of her personality, from her vulnerable side to her strong side. Webber played Hawk as he was, an alpha bad arse who was not afraid to show his softer and caring side. Bother were great performing the roles as the secondary characters too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to.

Review:
I had high expectation for this book. I really looked forward to reading this one. The synopsis sounded really good and it sounded like it could be my kind of read. Sadly it disappointing me. The story didn't drag me in, I couldn't connect with the characters. For me it was the writing style that didn't work for me. It felt like I was working my way through a 500 page novel while it's only 278 pages. Nothing really happend and it felt like the story didn't come across well on paper. Some things just didn't work well and the story just didn't flow that well. I hope that makes sense.

What is this book about:
Aspen lost her fiance and since then she closed her self of from most things in her live. She is all about work, sleep, drink and repeat. She is still alive but she isn't living. That is until she met her neighbors son Anderson, he brought something back to live in her she buried long ago. She doesn't want to start feeling again, she doesn't want to let someone in only to lose them. But Anderson isn't one to easily give up.

What did I like/love:
Can't think of anything I really liked or loved. It was all quite bland for me. I really wanted to love it but the story fell flat.

What did I dislike/hate:
Sadly I didn't like the writing style. It felt like the author kept adding details later on as an after thought. And it just didn't work. The story could have been allot shorter and it didn't have that many pages to begin with. It felt like the book was like 500 pages but it wasn't. Nothing really happend. The story dragged allot. I'm sorry to say that the book didn't meet my expectations. I was expecting a different kind of story I suppose.

So I got to a point in Until I Fall where I thought if I don't stop highlighting I'm going to have the whole book highlighted because there are so many awesome quotes in this book.

Aspen & Anderson are two characters that are so easy for you to fall in love with. They are so well rounded & developed. Loved them & the supporting characters so much.

Aspen was crushed at a young age and decided to throw herself into her work & never let her walls down. She couldn't risk letting someone in and losing everything again. Hawk works in a dangerous field of work, never imaging he'd ever want someone to come home to each night. Sometimes he never knows if he will even make it out alive. When these two meet it's like the stars are perfectly aligned. While Hawk lets her know exactly what he wants, Aspen doesn't think she can let him in because to her past.

"I want her by my side. I want her lips, her body. I want her soul. Most of all, I want t0 give her my heart."

Aspen tries to resist but Hawk is nothing but persistent. She can't live through another heartbreak and doesn't want to set herself up for on.

"This is right, my heart agrees and my soul demands it." "I'm broken. My heart is shattered. It's impossible to fix it."

This is such an emotional read, not just because of the story between Aspen & Hawk but their stories with other characterss in the book. I don't want to give any of it away, so you'll just have to read it to find out what I'm refering to.

Claudia Burgoa is a phenonemal author & Until I fall is a perfect example of her brilliant work.

There were some proofreading and editing errors, which was why I didn't give it 5 stars. This story brought out so many emotions, I cried, laughed, and felt Aspen's grief vividly.

Aspen and her fiancee, Michael, are planning their wedding. Aspen's in medical school and Michael is a Navy SEAL. So when they do see each other, their time spent together is precious. Michael comes to see her right before his next mission and promises to come back, his solemn promise to her. Four months later while he's back home, he's killed by a drunk driver; and Aspen falls apart.

Eleven years later, Aspen and Brynn, her best friend, are both doctors at a hospital in Tacoma, Seattle. Scarlett, their third BFF and Michael's sister, moved back home to work on the family ranch. Since his death, Aspen has number herself by working non-stop. She has a boyfriend who is divorced with children, but she's not invested in the relationship.

One night after another bout of insomnia, she goes outside to sit and read only to come face to face with a gorgeous man. He turns out to be Sofia, their elderly neighbor's son. Anderson is former military but works with a company that infiltrates cartels, etc. He's been spending more time around home because his Mom has cancer.

He sees the walls that Aspen has put up around herself and for the first time ever, he wants to get to know a woman longer than a night.

Can he do the impossible? Break her walls and make her fall in love with him?

A must read!
