Replay (Off Track Records Book 4) Kindle Edition
But it wasn’t always this way.
Jayla knew me before I hit it big. Back when I was a skinny teen, chasing dreams without a penny to my name. Now she’s back in my life and so much more than the girl I remember. Fiercely loyal. Beautiful and badass. She walked out of my life before, and I won’t let that happen again.
They say some songs are better on the second take, and if there’s one thing I know for sure, this is our time for a replay.
REPLAY is the final book in the Off Track Records series and can be read as a standalone, or start at the beginning with DETOUR.

A decade later and a past hidden deep, they meet again under different circumstances which play on their meager beginnings. Austin, the famous rockstar, and Jayla, a private security team expert, are thrown together as Austin, and his band, is in need of protection. Auston only has his eye on his old friend who he refuses to let go this time around.
Kacey Shea rocks the socks off this bad boy rockstar and humble security officer. She develops Austin and Jayla in a slow burn wrapped with scars from the past and a refreshing newness to a couple comforted by blending the old and the new. Shea writes Jayla with a tough as nails attitude but leaves her kryptonite dangling in front of her. A bit of a paradox of sorts, as Austin is the wild card to Jayla's rock solid stability. Together they fill in the missing years and must decide if this is their time or if they are passing in the night one last time. Shea nails this rockstar romance!

Sadly, this book wasn't quite what I expected. I feel like Jayla came out of blue as not once (that I remember) did Austin even hint or mention her in the previous three books. Nothing ever about a past “girlfriend” or the “girl that he lost”. While I did enjoy reading this story, I just had a hard time with Austin/Jayla – wasn’t feeling their connection. Maybe it was just me.
I like the drama of the whole Coy situation and the fact that Austin and Jayla have been given a second chance at love. But, can Austin settle down? Is the rock star life for Jayla? These two have some truths that need to come out as well. I am curious about Brianna though? Her character is brought up, but then no real conclusion to her story. Maybe another book is in the works?

Jayla is one tough chick. She has a strong, confident character, even after the trauma she received in her late teens. It's worth noting that she is an African-American ex-cop. I didn't realize this until over halfway through the book and had to reimagine her character mid-story.
A very good book showing Jayla's struggle to be a strong woman in a world that has already victimized her.
Austin grows up a lot during this story but is still a clueless pain in the butt sometimes.
Enjoyable read.
