Search for the heart of the mystery, and the heat of Grace

For the last three years, the one defining aspect of Ben Edwards' life has been that Grace is missing. Grace being Grace Stevens who, at least up until the moment she went missing, was Ben's fiancee.

So far as anyone knows, one moment she was exactly where she was supposed to be and then ... nothing. Disappeared without a trace as they say in the movies.

Though he's made concessions to the notion of moving on with his life during that time, Ben has never truly been able to move on from that day where they parted ways after a lover's tiff and he never got the opportunity to make things right between them.

Apart from being a rather beautiful, if unconventional second chance love story, Missing Grace by S.L. Scott is more. Interlaced with the romance is a mystery that is at once simple and straight forward ... what happened to Grace? but though that question could be answered with a single sentence, that sentence gives rise to a new question. Once again, a simple answer and once more, another implied question, and so it goes till both Ben, and the reader get right to the heart of the mystery ... and to the heart of Grace.

Right from the very first page this book grabbed my attention with both hands and refused to relinquish it till every last twist had been turned, every last secret had been revealed and every last emotion had been wrung from my soul, leaving me at once, both drained and filled in the best kind of ways.

Told third person, which is somewhat rare in romances these days, and generally not my preferred style, I actually felt that, given the kind of story being told, it was the perfect choice for this particular story, allowing the narration a slightly wider scope with which to frame both the mystery and romance as they battled for their space on the page, and I quickly found myself immersed.

So very, very good.

Missing Grace is different from all the romance books that I have been reading lately. I am not huge fan of second chance plot line but I really enjoyed it in this story. Given the story line it could have easily been full of drama but it wasn't which was great. Ben is an amazing hero. I loved the fact he never gave up on Grace and how fiercely he loved her. They definitely had a beautiful heartfelt love story.

I did a reread as this was one book I remembered and hasn’t forgotten but I wasn’t very happy with my review so here is a edited one and hope it makes sense lol.

So at first I was confused with this storyline and I wasn’t sure if I was going to add it to my DNF pile but hello I’m glad I didn’t.

So without further ado, I knew that SL Scott was one of my fave writers and if you’re a new reader to her books this one will leave you confused like me, and all I can say is, go in blind, read it and be blown away by the plot twist and I tell you, this story really blew me away (hence the confusion) so take a chance cause I did, and I just love Ben for his strength and determination.

This book is a story about never giving up on a love so strong, fate works in mysterious ways and when you're working on a limited time frame destiny might play a helping hand when it comes to true love.

I don't want to give too much away, but I really enjoyed this story of never giving up

Ben Edwards sees Grace Stevens hen her mother brought some cookies to his house and even ten years old he knew he was going to marry her. T was only them throughout the years. She had to go to Chicago and he was upset and they had a disagreement and he didn't tell her that he loved her. When she got to Chicago she just disappeared He left everything to go look for her. He spent three years going to all the hospital, put pictures, went to the police everything and nothing. He became friends with a woman and they went to a party and he sees her. He finds out she has anaemia, she feels something but her fiance gets upset . He wants to keep them apart. It is so sweet and sad at the same time

This was a second chance love and amnesia book totally different to anything I have previously read.

Ben lost the love of his life, soul mate is probably a better term, without knowing why. Putting his life on hold he spends 3 years looking for answers, just working and continuing to look for Grace. It was heart breaking to see what his life had become.

It's difficult to review without giving spoilers away but this book has betrayal, lies and deceit but throughout love shines through.

It is an easy read with a good storyline and plenty of surprises. Both amnesia and second chance love have been done many times but this just has a freshness I haven't seen before.

A great read.
