Deathless (The Vein Chronicles Book 2) Kindle Edition
Heck, it wasn’t even black, white and gray.
Lines were not drawn between good and evil, and if they were, I would have jumped those suckers for fun.
But now it was simpler. It wasn’t black and white. Or gray. It was only one thing.
Blood.
A crimson-tinted world. That was all I needed.
All I wanted.
Him.
Despite the war raging around us, or the secrets between us, there was nothing simpler than blood.
It didn’t matter that it would be fatal.
After all, it’s the things we’re not undead without that will kill us in the end.

About the author
Anne Malcom has been an avid reader since before she can remember, her mother responsible for her book addiction. It started with magical journeys into the world of Hogwarts and Middle Earth, then as she grew up her reading tastes grew with her. Her obsession with books and romance novels in particular gave Anne the opportunity to find another passion, writing. Finding writing about alpha males and happily ever afters more fun than reading about them, Anne is not about to stop any time soon.
Raised in small town New Zealand, Anne had a truly special childhood, growing up in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. She has backpacked across Europe, ridden camels in the Sahara, eaten her way through Italy, and had all sorts of crazy adventures. She's found her own happy ever after and now lives in the US with her husband and their two dogs.

A great series:)
This book continues on from where ‘Fatal Harmony’ book 1 leaves us. I wouldn’t recommend reading this book if you haven’t had the chance to read book one as there is a lot of the story and characters that won’t make a lot of sense.
My life was never black and white.
Heck, it wasn’t even black, white and gray.

Isla and Thorne, Thorne and Isla...
I love Thorne just putting it out there 😉 the unconditional love and affection he has for Isla. WOW! I do have to say I did love Isla in ‘Fatal Harmony’ and the beginning of ‘Deathless’ but then got annoyed with her after the secret between Thorne and Rick is revealed. I understand she was hurt, but I felt that she just over reacted. There was never anytime between the killing and dying for the secret to come out, plus it’s kind of a big deal, it can’t just be brought up in a casual conversation. But after the reconciliation the sassy and kicka** Vampire Isla I love was back. YAY! Plus she gets a little revenge back on her family, it was well overdue.
I do have to mention Sophie, what an Awesome Chick. I love her loyalty... She will literally do anything for the ones she loves. I can’t wait to see how she grows into her powers. But I am also a little concerned for her after the incident at the beginning of ‘Deathless’ where she looses control. But I did have a chuckle where she freezes Rick and then forgets she has done it 😝. Duncan is so freaking Hilarious, he’s too cool and carefree attitude is just what this Scooby Doo gang needs.
This book has something for everyone.
Ass kicking action of the paranormal variety ✅
Swoon worthy moments ✅
Seriously hot chemistry ✅
Witty banter and dialogue ✅
Supporting characters you love ✅
Storyline that leaves you wanting more ✅
Banter and dialogue so funny you will definitely laugh and might snort ✅
And most importantly it has a heroine that you want to be best friends with. Isla is the very best kind of kick ass character you want to go out for a few cocktails with and then join her posse and kill a few bad guys.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone looking for an action packed, funny, emotional, hot and female empowering read.
Thorne and Isla are my perfect couple. Swoon Central ❤️❤️❤️
Wasn’t that what love did? Broke you into as many pieces as humanly, and inhumanely, possible so you couldn’t put yourself back together? Not without the other person, at least.
I'm not going to say anything else because I don't want to spoil the book for readers but I do have to share my favourite quote from Isla. I just love her. I love her hard.
I never make promises because I don’t like present Isla making future Isla’s decisions for her. I find it rude.
Thank you Anne for another book that gave me everything I needed.
There's some nice wrap ups here which are appreciated, and in one sense conclude a small part of the series. However, this doesn't at all mean that the series should end here. So, yes, I'm waiting for the next piece of Isla to add pep to my step and give me no small smirk for the day.

I love Isla's snark and her witticisms, it's one of the reasons I devoured the book. There were only a couple of things I didn't love, the first was her (over) reaction to Thorne's origin story. The second was her constant reminders that she's a strong woman who doesn't need a man to save her. Those are really just minor complaints though and I’m really looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
Isla keeps taunting death and it has finally caught up to her. Not only did the witches curse her, she finds out about the prophecy. Now the weight of the world is literally on her shoulders. Not to mention her survival is now completely dependent on one man.
Secrets and lies can destroy everything. And when Isla finds out the truth of the one closest to her, her trust is shattered. She doesn't love or trust easily, so when its broken it just destroys her.
This story has so many twists that I cannot read fast enough. The author constantly keeps me on my toes because I just never know what Isla is going to do next. She is one of my favorite heroines of all time. Isla is fearless and strong, independent and loyal, a little bit crazy but a whole lot of fun!
I am moving onto the next in the series because I just cannot wait to see what happens.
At times, I actually lost focus on Isla's original point and felt that it was taking away from the otherwise excellent story. The blurb I posted above is an excellent example of text from the book. I'm sure that there are tons of people who love this style, but it is not for me.
At times I had to force myself to finish reading the book, or at least skim the current section, because I did want to find out what happened. But I will admit that if the author wasn't someone I usually like, I would have given up before the 50% mark.
In addition to the run-on sentences and overly wordy style, sometimes sentences just didn't make sense. Ms. Malcom's editor/betas did not do her any favours in this instance.
The next book in this series is going to be one I wait and borrow from my local library, rather than purchasing. I still want to know where the series goes but if it is written the same way, I won't be continuing.
