I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is well written and you find yourself caught up with all the emotions of Reid and Allie. I couldn’t put the book down. I had to stay up late and finish the book. Can’t wait for the next book in the series. Highly recommend.

Awesome Highland Romance Tale! I loved Reid’s story. He has been the bad boy of the family but when he meets Allie, sparks fly and she sees the real him, not the person he shows to others. Allie and Reid must battle prejudice from family and the clans before they can be together. A really great addition to this series.
I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Très bon tome, bien écrit, intéressant, sans temps mort, sans digressions, avec deux héros aux caractères trempés, lui séducteur notoire et apparemment insouciant et sans scrupules, elle décidée à défendre sa nouvelle indépendance. Leur relation amoureuse va être l'objet d'un rejet par tout le monde. En parallèle, l'auteure rend compte de l'instabilité frontalière qui risque de conduire à la guerre et c'est très bien raconté. Ces deux histoires se croisent et finissent par se rejoindre avec la réhabilitation du héros. Son comportement et sa transformation sont particulièrement bien analysés par l'auteure qui fait preuve d'un véritable talent narratif.

While I loved the story behind this book, I find this author's storytelling a bit hard to follow. I really couldn't tell if she just included too many details that made the story confusing or just included too much info at once. I do know I was constantly having to re-read pages or paragraphs to see what I had missed that made connections to the story. I wound up just continuing to read and skipping trying to understand until things finally fell into place. I love this era in history where clans and March wars were realities and realize that sometimes the details are a little confusing but to me, this was ridiculous. I did enjoy the overall story, though.

I have conflicting feelings about this one. I loved Allie and most of the time I loved Reid. I didn't like how he became so insecure when things weren't going his way and he tried to make Allie leave Brockburg. And Gillian. Did she forget how Graeme pleasured a serving girl right before her very eyes? Or that he kept a mistress at his castle before marrying Gillian and who was still there after she arrived? To me those things were no worse than what she saw at the Inn making her assume Reid bedded the serving girl. Which he did, but she held none of those things against Graeme even as the very same things kept her from accepting Reid for her sister. Aside from those things, it was a very good read as all these Border Series have been. It is definitely a book you don't want to put down until the very end.
