This story is completely different than any of this authors other books, but just as addicting, angsty, and hot!! This is a stand-alone second chance hospital romance, and has a very interesting back-story. In the beginning, Reagan & Joel put us thru the wringer with their “secret” relationship (no other co-workers knew) but life goals & career choices can suddenly & drastically change things.. What happens with these two over 5 yrs later will have you on the edge of your seat and screaming “NO WAY”!! OMG, You MUST read this one to find out what this fab author can do to your mind with her intriguing words alone... Side effects was one steamy hot, angsty, gripping, GREAT READ! -HEA

Regan’s career as a pediatric nurse as well as a single mother to five year old Ruby leaves her with little time or energy for anything else. She is not looking for love or a relationship as her one experience with it in the past has left her with a broken heart.

Joel is the playboy pediatric doctor who has recently returned to town. He was responsible for Regan’s broken heart when he left town years ago. He wants to rekindle their relationship and the chemistry between them is hotter than ever but convincing her to give him a second chance may require a little more work.

This is a second chance at love story filled with secrets, drama, angst and enough sparks to set your kindle on fire.

I felt that this one dragged on a little too long and the characters were hard for me to like. Joel had his moments of vulnerability, but he could be such an arrogant a** and his stubbornness drove me CRAZY!! Regan, on the other hand, was too harsh and while I understand her reluctance to jump back into a relationship with Joel - her hot/cold behavior and unforgiving nature made her hard to like.

The premise is different and Ruby is such a sweet treat.

I guess I just expected and wanted more out of the story. There was some depth that was unexpected and I did enjoy the glimpse back into their previous relationship. Although I feel a key piece of the puzzle was never fully resolved.

I voluntarily requested and read an advance reader copy.

This book has sexual tension dripping constantly like a broken tap.
This book will have you rooting for the hero one minute,
and needing to kick him in the balls the next.
This book will make you smile when you meet the heroine, with the sweetest child,
then make you want to pull your hair out at her stupid decisions.

Regan is a hard working paediatric nurse, trying to juggle her work and family life.
Having come from a broken family she surrounds herself with loyal friends.
So what if she has no love life? She is pretty content in her bubble, isn't she?
She had loved once, in the past, but when he abandoned her for a life abroad she closed that door.

When sexy, self assured and arrogant Dr Lincoln Prescott the third
joins the hospital as the new paediatric doctor, all the ladies swoon.
Joel, Dr Prescott, has eyes only for Regan.
This sex on legs, hot man is Regan's ex no less, the breaker of her dreams,
her heart and her spirit.
Regan may refuse to acknowledge Joel's attempts to forgive and forget,
but her body refuses to get the message.
The more Joel tries to get close , the harder Regan pushes, all the way into his bed.

Regan has a history with Joel, wheather she accepts it or not.
Joel was around when she had to contend with her evil twin, and her games.
She also has to think of her daughter, so she adamantly ignores their chemistry.

Maybe the new doctor, Dr. David McCallister can be the new man in her life.
When David invites Regan to the Doctors Ball she agrees to attend,
with a not so gentle push by her so called friends.

This night turns out to be a catalyst for Regan and Joel,
by the end of the night, secrets will be revealed,
confessions made, and truths come to light.

You may think this is when they get their HEA, but it is just the beginning
of another rollercoaster of emotions and more heartache.

l may have started the story rooting for Regan, but by the end Joel stole my heart.
l also want to say that l loved the epilogue.

What's not to like about hot doctors and sexy nurses.
A truly heart warming and sexy read.

Holy moly..Joel and Reagan are a force, both individually and together!
Reagan, nurse, fierce single mom.
Joel, the doc, hot af doc that is also infuriating, with a plan that won't fail.
But..there's always a but lol..sadly nothing can derail a plan like out of control situations..
I enjoyed the story a lot..It's a second chance, my fav..plus there's a kid, also my fav..it's a great story!

A brilliant, summer romance novel is a different genre for writer Dee Palmer.
Regan, a Peds Nurse and is faced with a nightmare, Dr. Joel Prescott, a man whore with whom she has a a past . Regan can’t resist the attraction she and Joel have for each other. Ruby, Regan’s daughter is sickly. Can Dr. Joel manager to help save the little girl’s life? There are many twists and turns in this great read.
Dee Palmer has again out done herself with her latest best seller.

Saw this book on booktok and it’s been on my tbr list for a bit. So glad to have found Miss Palmer, let’s say there are a lot more of her books on the tbr list. Absolutely loved this story, Joel and Regan captured my heart, a hot couple that were meant to be and deserved a hea. So many little twists, a bit of drama and a lot of heat. Amazing characters, great friends and lovable Ruby. I did enjoy the last chapter written from Joel’s pov( nice touch) and also being English myself I enjoyed English phrases and the standard cuppa tea cures everything quote! 😜I will be reading more from this author that’s for sure.
