Review

"What an incredibly twisted little psychological thriller this duet is. I was captivated from the moment I met these characters in book one and was 100% invested in how everything turned out. And I couldn't have been happier with it all." - Naughty Mom Story Time
"The author's prose, her vocabulary and the flow kept me stuck to every page ... This is pure and utter Fantôme style and my last words; be warned...it's dark, it is not for those of you who have high blood pressure 'cause this unique story won't read as you want it to ... Spine-chilling, sweat-building, it's heart-racingly complex and imaginative ... Bravo, and thank you for giving me such a nail-biting-sit-on-the-edge-of-your-seat read!"
- Kindle Friends Forever
"It's a psychological love story with threats, dangers ... how Stylo manages to weave poignant threads in this dark quilt of viciousness is beyond me. How she comes up with such twisted stories is I think a million dollar question!"
- Book Bistro Blog

"Speechless! What a thrilling ride! Preach was the much anticipated follow up to Church. These books need to be read together. Preach did not disappoint. This book is dark and sexy."

Crazy woman from an undisclosed location in Alaska (where the need for a creative mind is a necessity!), I have been writing since ... forever? Yeah, that sounds about right. I have been told that I remind people of Lucille Ball - I also see shades of Jennifer Saunders, and Denis Leary. So basically, I laugh a lot, I'm clumsy a lot, and I say the F-word A LOT.

I like dogs more than I like most people, and I don't trust anyone who doesn't drink. No, I do not live in an igloo, and no, the sun does not set for six months out of the year, there's your Alaska lesson for the day. I have mermaid hair - both a curse and a blessing - and most of the time I talk so fast, even I can't understand me.

Yeah. I think that about sums me up.

*** Preach is book number two in the duet, this review may contain spoilers if you have not read Church, book number one. ***Emma Hartley gave everything to Church, her trust, her love, and her very soul. And then she made the ultimate sacrifice, one that only a man like Church could ever appreciate. But, things didn't go as planned, and now she is trying to pull the shattered pieces of herself back together... and the man who broke her is nowhere to be found...Church Logan isn't going to let Emma go so easily... they made plans, and once the time is right, everything will work out just how he planned it...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~With Preach, we are thrown back into the dark and twisted love of two people with deviant desires who have found an unusual acceptance in each other. Just when you thought you knew what Emma and Church were capable of, you will not be prepared for their stunning reunion...Emma's life has spiraled out of control and we find her working on her issues and blocking out the noise in her head, which is more often that not, Church. But, playing the game only works for her for so long, while she is waiting for a sign that the love of her life is indeed coming back for her...Church has been waiting. Emma is the only woman he has ever connected with, and he loved to manipulate so much. She was once a means to an end, but now she is his everything...This book had me continuously hanging on the edge of my seat. To be thrust into the corrupted mind of a character like Emma was completely fascinating, even while being hard to swallow at times. With this depraved love story, Church and Emma find not only their other halves, but a peace that can only be achieved when they open up the darkest part of their souls... together. I really enjoyed this duet. Although I felt there was more of a focus on the crimes that Church and Emma plan to commit together, and much less of a focus on their actual relationship. I would have absolutely loved to see more of the progression of their love, and the commitment change with book two and the aftermath of book one. With this  backseat approach that was taken to their relationship, I feel this book was more of a thriller than a romance. I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.

Stylo has the ability to write about completely unique characters that you wouldn’t usually like but writes them in way where you cannot help but love them. Preach is one of them stories where the main characters are ones that cannot help but love and just want them to get their happy endings despite their unique traits. I honestly love the storyline of this story and the directions that it went throughout the story. There were a few twists in the story I did not see coming at all.

I loved the way that Emma kept growing throughout the series and the way that she stood up for herself with her mother. I really enjoyed Emma and found her to be a really great Heroine in this series.

Church I really loved reading more about throughout this story and getting more of an insight of him throughout the story. I felt like I learnt a lot more about him in Preach and the reasons for the way he behaves.

Preach picks up where Church left off and delves deeper into the lives of Emma and Church.

Preach isn’t like any other book series out here and remains to be an unique story with such intriguing characters. I really love this author writing style and the creativity of this authors storylines. I am really excited to read more from this author.

4 + stars.
Before I start my review, I will say that you MUST read book 1, Church before reading Preach. It's a continuation of Emma and Church's story that is, to say the least, insane. Be ready for some dark romance with edges of insanity thrown in.

"I'm not well, you see. In my mind. In my heart. Just a plaguing darkness, eating away at me, making me rot and fester. I get confused. I don't understand. Or maybe I understand too well."

I have to say that I wasn't sure what to expect for this book, but I knew Stylo was going to bring it. After book one, what was going to happen to Emma? Would Church still be there? What would Emma's horrible mom do next? And Jerry. What the heck was he going to get up to??

To start the story, Emma is a for all intended purposes a prisoner in her own home. Her mom basically owns her and takes her to and from the Sunshine Ranch for meetings with a therapist and group therapy. At the end of book one, I thought Emma was still a strong, albeit confused girl. But I hoped she was still holding strong to who she was. But at the beginning of Preach, we are almost to believe that Emma has succumbed to the darkness and the voices and questions her sanity. It almost broke MY heart. I wanted her darkness to be with Church's darkness. I wanted them together. But she was questioning it all. Not Church. He was always there. He had a plan and he was going to take slow and careful steps to get what he wants and needs.

This story had me feeling things for these two. Yes, they are different, but the emotions and feelings Emma went through were all too real. Her past and what her mother put her through was beyond horrible. And the things Church had gone through that we didn't know about? Very eye-opening. It was when Church said this that things were all put together for me.....

"If you weren't broken anymore, then I wouldn't be able to love you the way I do......It means in order for us to fit together, we already have to be in pieces. My pieces can't exactly fit if you don't have any edges. If you're already whole."

These two broken souls were made for each other and they are a force of nature. They are beauty and pain. They are light and dark. They are the answer to every question. Well, every dark question. They might be monsters, but they are man-made and man picked. Who do you think picked them? Who was the monster lurking in the corner??

"You be the thunder and I'll be the lightning. You be the cloud, and I'll be the rain."

Destruction comes in the form of these two. These two make a whole. But it's what you don't see coming that is the most interesting and actually the most fun of all.
This is different and this is dark, but if you like the more twisted, this book has it. Just remember to pay attention to all the characters and enjoy the dive into darkness and one bloody mess of love.

Wow! I thought the first book was raw and thrilling. Church laid the ground work of delving into both Church and Emma’s psyche. Preach brought it all home.

The way Stylo Fantôme delivers the story for these characters is magnificent. A masterful combination of first person and third person works deliciously well at giving the reader insight into the goings on in Church and Emma’s minds while telling the bulk of the story with a bird’s eye view. It’s truly exquisite.

These characters were broken, but in that brokenness and with each other those broken pieces give them strength to fully grasp their true -be it twisted and dark- selves.

With Church’s masterful manipulations of the people around him and Emma’s impulsive nature things tend to work out as planned while keeping it exciting enough to hold Church’s attention. For a sociopath, it’s quite difficult to get him to give two craps about what’s going on with those around him but in this story Stylo delivers surprise after surprise that stuns even him -sometimes leaving him at a loss for words.

What an incredibly twisted little psychological thriller this duet is. I was captivated from the moment I met these characters in book one and was 100% invested in how everything turned out. And I couldn’t have been happier with it all.

Man, I really wanted to love this one as much as I loved ‘Church’. Although, I did love the surprise with Jerry, that was a twist all in its own.
As for Emma, even if she was a mental patient, she was a lot more weary of her situation. The voices taking over, her constant battle with sanity. She had a grasp on her reality, more so, than she did before her attempted suicide.
I love Church, his character wasn’t as strong and for that I was a little more reluctant to finish reading, it I did.

Emma and Church, where do I begin? This story is very dark, and suspenseful. It keeps you guessing at what is really going on. Is Emma being played, is Church to be trusted??

This is a hard review for me as i absolutely loved the first book Church, it was in my top 3 reads of 2018 so i couldn't wait to read Preach when it finally came out, unfortunately although i did enjoy this book i did not enjoy it as much as the first.
This book carries on from the last one so you have to have read Church for any of this book to make sense, this book was mainly from Emma's point of view rather than Church's and i think that is why i did not enjoy it as much as i don't really like the Character. Having said that it is a good read, we are introduced to new characters as well as catching up with previous ones. I think i just love Church so much i wanted the book from his point of view again and was a little disappointed it wasn't although i do understand why.
I would still recommend the series to any dark lover.

The ending was worth reading the entire book. I think Church and Preach might have worked better as a single book. Compress the first 75% or so of Preach and leave the finale. Doing that would make for a 5 star read.

That said, Stylo Fantome has a way with words. Poetic love for the wicked.
