Marriage For One Kindle Edition
Nope. It was me he asked. A complete stranger who had never even heard of him. A stranger who had been dumped by her fiancé only weeks before. You'd think I'd laugh in his face, call him insane-and a few other names-then walk away as quickly as possible. Well…I did all those things except the walking away part.
It took him only minutes to talk me into a business deal…erm, I mean marriage, and only days for us to officially tie the knot. Happiest day of my life. Magical. Pop the champagne… Not. It was the worst day. Jack Hawthorne was nothing like what I'd imagined for myself.
I blamed him for my lapse in judgment. I blamed his eyes, the ocean blue eyes that looked straight into mine unapologetically, and that frown on his face I had no idea I would become so fascinated with in time.
It wasn't long after he said I was the biggest mistake of his life that things started to change. No, he still didn't talk much, but anyone can string a few words together. His actions spoke the loudest to me. And day after day my heart started to get a mind of its own.
One second he was no one. The next he became everything.
One second he was unattainable. The next he seemed to be completely mine.
One second I thought we were in love. The next it was still nothing but a lie.
After all, I was Rose and he was Jack. We were doomed from the very beginning with those names. Did you expect anything else?

About the author

Ella Maise is a Washington Post and International Bestselling Author.
Writing became my world and I can’t imagine myself doing anything other than creating new characters and telling their stories. You know how some things simply makes your heart burst with happiness? A really good book, a puppy, hugging someone you’ve been missing like crazy? That’s what writing does to me. And all the hard work, all the sleepless nights, all the anxiety that comes with publishing…everything is worth it at the end.

When offered an opportunity Rose couldn’t refuse by a stranger in order to fulfill her dream about opening her own coffee shop, she finds herself suddenly married, with a large ring on her finger as part of a business deal. One second he was no one. The next he became everything. One second he was unattainable. The next he seemed to be completely mine. One second she thought they were in love. The next it was still nothing but a lie. A book about the strength of love and how even through deceit and hopelessness, it has an amazing power to heal.

This standalone romance novel is written in dual POV and held so many good aspects. While reading this book I was constantly in my emotions whether it be giggling, smiling, crying or swooning. The slow burn was done perfectly and ended with a love that warmed my soul and heart for the two characters. It was a very unique, captivating and emotional romance novel that started backwards yet ended rightly.

𝖯𝗅𝗈𝗍:
The plot being a marriage of convenience was done well along with the slow burning romance. The beginning may be slow moving and uneventful but I personally enjoyed getting to know the characters gradually since the story developed well over time. Being so utterly real and emotional, this book is unlike any romance novel I’ve previously read. There isn’t a way to read this book and not feel anything with what the contents holds.

I absolutely loved how the writing, by this new favorite author of mine, made me feel. The power in her words was extraordinary as one word could hold so much impact. The writing helped me fall further in love with every aspect of this book. I loved the simple flow of the work and how it added to the emotional, heartbroken atmosphere that had me constantly on the edge of my seat.

The characters were well-developed, unique and complete. I loved how they were equal and didn’t need each other to be saved yet chose each other.

𝗥𝗼𝘀𝗲 = she was a really adorable, independent, talkative and humorous heroine. “𝑰 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒏𝒐 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆, 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒅𝒂𝒚."

𝗝𝗮𝗰𝗸 = he was a swoon-worthy, charming, brooding, rugged and complex character that I was very intrigued by from the start. “𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒆𝒅 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒉𝒆𝒓. 𝑺𝒉𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒎𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒘."

The secondary characters were also very well done and I’m hoping they get their own book in the future.

𝖱𝗈𝗆𝖺𝗇𝖼𝖾:
The romance was a slow burn done perfectly which I loved. I loved the tension between these two so much as the book continued. I couldn’t get enough of their connection as they were the perfect, unexpected match. “𝑰𝒇 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒅𝒆𝒔𝒄𝒓𝒊𝒃𝒆 𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒌𝒊𝒔𝒔, 𝑰 𝒘𝒐𝒖𝒍𝒅 𝒔𝒂𝒚 𝒊𝒕 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝒈𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒍𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆." The passion they held was immaculate and I was shocked by the unexpected intimate scenes yet very appreciative with how they were handled, being mature and not overdone. Their love story was very endearing, engaging, heartfelt and enjoyable to read while also constantly making me giddy.

The easiest five star rating I’ve ever given! A brilliantly told slow burn romance from start to finish by a new favorite author. Highly recommend to all those romance lovers who are looking for a heartwarming and captivating standalone read to get lost within.

2/5 🌶
So GD cute! These two were so so cute and this was a cosy fun read. Jack has very much upped the anty! The romance, the TENSION, oh my.
Quite slowburn but not in the way that some are where you don’t know if the relationship will work, you kind of get a clear sense on how they are both pining for one another (dual POV) and Rose is so cute, she openly flirts with him and Jack is all, I’m a cold grumpy man (and I’m dying inside to be able to be with you in earnest). Adorable.
Spice takes a while but it’s hot.
• slowburn romance + spice
• grumpy sunshine
• marriage of convenience
• fake relationship
• he falls first 😍
• forced proximity
Rose finds herself falling pretty quickly for Jack. She doesn't mind his grumpy self, enjoys his frowns and tries to make him smile. It's a real slow burn romance between these 2.
I do love a good slow burn romance, but at times this story just felt too slow. When I was reading it just felt ( to me ) like the story was really long, and I was just waiting for something more to happen. After the build up over the whole story of Jack and his reasons for the marriage, the big reveal/conflict was resolved super quick.
This book was emotional and heartbreaking. It had you feeling all the feels and had me sitting at the edge of my seat of what’s going to happen.
In this book we see the strength of love and how powerful it can be and how it has the power to forgive and heal when secrets and lies are exposed.
Marriage for one was full of mystery and a twist that you didn’t see happen. The chemistry between Jack and Rose was intense, from something that started as a fake marriage turned into something neither of them saw coming, they started falling for one another.
So much passion, intimacy, and honest Raw emotions. You will fall in love with Jack, he is the silent, broody type of guy who frowns and doesn’t smile but Rose makes it her mission to get smiles out of him.
When secrets are exposed, will they be able to move past and forgive. Is their love strong enough?
As soon as this book ended, I was left wanting more of this couple. Their flirty banter, funny comments, the build up, anticipation, sexual tension and so much more.

He seen her one day at a christmas party, sitting on the kitchen floor playing with a puppy. He thought she was the most beautiful girl in the world.
He saves her from her horrible ex once he find out what he intentions truly are & he helps her start up her coffee shop.
He buys her roses🌹
He makes her pasta on Thursdays🍝
He even watched “You’ve Got Mail” & Titanic” with her on Saturdays🥺♥️

Jack Hawthrone is a cold hearted, always grumpy billionaire. He has no family, no friends & no girlfriend, it’s always just him and his business. How he likes it.
Rose is a sweetheart with a broken heart. He ex has left her only a few weeks ago, she goes to a meeting & now some handsome, grumpy blue eyed stranger is asking her to marry him???
This marriage will benefit the both of them in the end, so she agrees. After her manages to convince her.
This was a slowburn, not my style of a book typically. I loved every moment of Jack & Rose though.
Jack ends up being super swoonworthy & Rose is just such a likeable character from the beginning. She’s always smiling & talking to strangers. She’s a kind hearted soul, exactly what Jack needs!
Their relationship was a beautiful one to read about and watch blossom into something more.
Their connection, tension, chemistry & banter is so well written.
Absolute *chefs kiss*
