How the hell am I going to write a review that explains why I loved this book, without revealing why?! 😱😱😱📚 “𝐍𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐞𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝.” 📚The plot has two parts - the past and the present - and it tells the unusual story of Emerson Hart. Emerson met Meriki (or Ki, for short) when she was only 10-year-old. They both immediately become friends and over the years, their friendship only intensified - Until it became a huge love... They had dreams and plans together, but sometimes life takes you in a different direction than you planned. 💥💥💥Em has grown and changed. She lost herself and her way - until she met Josh, and her life begins to mend again ... but the guilt continues to hit her.Emerson was privileged to experience two true loves. But to keep one, she has to say goodbye to the other. Which way will she choose...? 💙📚 “𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞, 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬, 𝐰𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐟𝐥𝐲.” 📚I must point out that I started the book "On Blind" in audio because I loved the cover - and I'm so glad I experienced the book this way. That's why I will not tell you more about the plot, because it's one of those books that you need experience yourself... but for those who need to know - no, this is NOT a romantic love triangle!!! 😂To be honest, while listening I was sure I would give it 3 stars, not because it was boring, but because it did not renew anything to me... but then, it surprised me so much that I just had to change my rating! 😱💙👏This book was a journey of self-discovery, healing, growth and love. It's not easy - it's emotional, deep, complex... and it totally took me by surprise. 🙏• I listened to the AUDIO version. 🎧

This was a phenomenal 5 star read. I one clicked it directly from an ad on Amazon that kept coming up in my Facebook feed. I 100% bought this book because of the cover, I honestly couldn’t stop looking at how beautiful it was. The description that is given is extremely cryptic so I had to go with my gut and I bought it. I definitely wasn’t disappointed, I read it all in one sitting. From the very first line I was drawn in:
"Even without seeing her face, I know that the woman standing at the waters edge is desperately sad."
The first third of the book is the love story of Emerson and Mereki, a first time emotional and gripping love story. I love these types of stories so much, if the author can do a good job of capturing what it’s like to fall in love the first time, these books can rank up there at the very top of my favorites list.
Emerson comes from a broken home, with an evil mother and a horrible step brother. When Mereki becomes a first hand witness to this he decides that Emerson needs a friend more than the bullies do and they quickly settle into a routine together. Ki fishes and Emerson works on her art. The back and fourth between the two characters is beautiful and subtle but you can see the love blossoming in every exchange they have: They never had a chance, it’s heartbreaking and wonderful.
"As long as we're together, I'll smile forever"
They hold off the love feelings for each other until their senior year in high school, seventeen years old, when they just can’t fight it anymore. A first kiss down by the river in their special spot together and she is lost to him forever.
Emerson wants to be an artist and Ki an architect, they want to get out of this one horse town, away from all the people that do nothing but drag them down. Emerson is already so talented, for her birthday Ki gets her a table at the art festival so she can try and sell some of her drawings, and she does! But later that night a terrible event happens changing the course of everything and everyone’s lives forever. I know it sound’s corny but I'm telling you.
Skip forward about four and a half years or so, things aren’t so great for Emerson and Ki. High tensions at home are leaving her drained and feeling incredibly distant from her partner, and now there is a super nice super hottie that wants to take her to coffee.
It took awhile for me to warm up to Josh, the character that falls in love with Emerson later in the novel. By the end though your not really sure who you are rooting for, you love all of them so much. For those wondering I’m going to call this a quasi love triangle and leave it at that. Give it a try even if you hate them, this story is so lovely and compelling.
At times I was reading with a lump in my throat, by the end I was reading through tears. The characters were so well written and they definitely made you feel all the feels. There were a few sexy parts: they were steamy but not overdone. I was not expecting the ending, when we came to the reveal I had to read it twice to make sure I hadn’t missed anything.
One thing that drives me crazy in books is when authors over do it one describing the characters, what they look like and what they are wearing. These things in no way connect me with them at all. This book was excellent in leaving those things out of the narration, and I loved it! The only way that I knew there were racial tensions going on with the couple in the beginning was because of the scenes with the bullies. This is just something that really stood out to me while reading. And last, my favorite quote from the book was definitely this truth:
"For a minute or a lifetime, some people try to clip your wings, whole others help you learn to fly."
Also, their Aussies. So, Yeah. Hotties, Mate.

This author is a new author to me and she writes so vividly and so bright. She portrays her characters in such a unique and beautiful way that it's hard to look away from the page. The character development is great and I just wanted to soak up all the words, it makes you feel like the author is an artist herself and she's just relaying that to the reader, and that felt very organic and really cool. This story is so refreshing and at the same time, brimming with poignancy throughout the whole book. I could feel the heartbreak just below the surface and the angst of the unknown gets me EVERY. TIME. I couldn't look away.

Emerson is an artist and the author takes you through such a kaleidoscope of words, through her childhood and her more difficult adult life. We go through past and present and she shares a little piece of her journey while she was a young girl meeting a young boy and sharing something very special together. What would seem like normal things like fishing and placing pebbles in the ground, catapults to another level and takes you on this beautiful journey of understanding these characters worlds. The past is young love at its finest and the present is the hard realities of life, temptation, and hope. The way these two worlds were combined was absolutely captivating. I could not put it down! Emerson tells us stories with no words and this author takes those stories and transforms them into a stunning story that had me aching to see if this artwork was real. Does it exist somewhere? Because I'm dying to see it, that's how transformative the writing is. Simply amazing.

Emerson has two men in her life. And the complexity of that and what they mean to her are just that. Complex. There are so many different nuances and subtle twists and turns, and I can't reveal what I'm feeling completely because I don't want to spoil this book. Because EVERYTHING that happens is meaningful and connected to a different part of Emerson's story. It's like a puzzle that slowly gets revealed through ah-ha moments and tears and content smiles. As a reader, this is everything I wanted in a book and more. I cried for these characters and rooted them on and my investment to them is solid and real. It's not often a book moves me in such a way, but this book did. I actually felt my chest aching at one point and all I could mutter was unintelligible sounds. I didn't want an HEA for a specific couple, which is a first for me. I mean yes, I was rooting for someone specific, but I wanted an HEA for Emerson because I felt SO connected to her character. I wanted her choices to be made for HER and her alone and I LOVE that I felt that way. I crave to feel that way!

So thank you Kate Sterritt, for your beautiful words and intoxicating story. Your book gives me hope that I will continue to read GREAT books in the future. PLEASE everyone read this book! You will not be sorry, and if you aren't as moved as I am, I'd be in shock.

I'm a wreck. I’m devastated. I’m at a loss for words.

You know, so many people started praising this book that I couldn't ignore it much longer. Although I originally started reading this book months earlier, life got in the way and I only now picked it up again to finish it. Seriously, I could slap myself for taking so long.

Although I had this feeling in my gut that told me this story was going to make me fall in love and break my heart, I was not prepared for how ugly it was going to be and what a mess it turned me into. It wasn’t all perfect because at first it felt a bit too fast and later on slowed down too much. But doesn’t life feel like that too sometimes?! And when a book like this elicits such deep emotions, there’s no other way than to give it a full star rating.

I was really moved by this beautiful story no matter how wrong my assumptions were at some parts in the book. You can imagine my shock when I discovered just how wrong I was. This rarely happens because I’m quite good at figuring out the secrets behind a story. Not so in this book because I didn’t see it coming until it punched me in the gut.

I thought that I disliked the character, but in the end it was me I didn't like because I judged her when I should have known better. I wanted to apologize to Emerson and tell her that I didn't know and that I was sorry. My heart shattered and I felt terrible about my feelings and about what happened.

As the blurb already hints at there are two men in this story that are important to Emerson though I will not go further into that because I think it’s best to experience the story with as little knowledge as possible. I’m sure that my feelings would have been a lot different would I have known what I do now.

This book was one of the toughest to finish, but not for the reason one might think. I just didn’t think my eyes would stop leaking because this story absolutely destroyed me. I was a mess and my ugly crying wasn't quiet and not pretty at all. So, be prepared for it. I wasn’t.

The Story:
Emerson was the main character and we got to see a lot of her childhood life were we witnessed her being bullied and mistreated even from her own family. The silver lining in her life was her best friend Mereki, without whom she wouldn't have known where she'd be. He and art, which was more than just an outlet to her but her way of expressing her emotions and telling her stories, were the best parts of life.
Until everything changed.

Thoughts:
This absolutely tore me apart. When the story began, I was drawn to those two lovely young characters that had found one another and helped each other to get through a tough time during their childhood. I couldn’t help but fall in love with them when I saw their passion and love grow. I felt close to them and wanted to be in their inner circle and a part of their lives just to protect them from any harm.

My love for them grew as they got older and their love became stronger. You can imagine how heartbroken and sad I was to learn what happened later on. I felt sorrow and pain and wanted to help them so badly. As the story went on I was very emotional and really invested and captured by their journey, but I grew annoyed and frustrated with Emerson at about half way through. I just didn't understand. I didn't see. I was blind about what happened and I felt that the story was a bit too drawn out and Emerson just got on my last nerve.

What shocked me was the revelation of what had happened because I felt sorry for my way of thinking, for blaming Emerson and disliking her behavior. It felt like falling into a bottomless pit because I couldn't handle how wrong I had been and how all those emotions were flooding my senses.

Conclusion: I absolutely adored and loved this book for its heart achingly beautiful story no matter how painful it was because there was always some spark of hope and light in the dark.

1st time author for me and I will surely be reading more of her books. An amazing story that gripped my heart from the start to finish. With heart pounding moments and moments so deep I had to pause reading for awhile to absorb all the emotions the author made me feel.

The characters are memorable, loveable and so honest with thee feelings. A story that slowly unfolds but flows easily, captivating and poignant. The author takes you on breathtaking adventure that is heartfelt, an honest portrayal of an uplifting and powerful love story. Well written and edited, to the point and beautifully told, this novel will grab your heart and won't let go.

I absolutely loved this book and have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending it. A MUST read. Thank you KS 😀

5.0 out of 5 stars SIMPLE YET COMPLEX

Love My Way by Kate Sterritt

Every so often you come across a book that surprises you, despite the amount of hype that said book has generated.
Truth: I was reluctant to download Love My Way purely on the very limited blurb provided, and my own very rigid criteria on choosing my reading material. But I did, and I am very happy that I followed the advice of the many discerning followers of Kate Sterritt.
This is overall, a wonderfully simple love story, however, it is only simple in it's telling. There is a complexity of metaphoric layering underpinning this story which allows the reader an insight into an intricate art form while delivering a very powerful life lesson using this art form.
The bonds formed are inspirational & the relationship failings are heartbreaking. You are taken on a true Australian journey throughout this story.
It was 'simply'  brilliant writing.
Now, I did read along in conjunction with the audible narration for this book & although at times the female narrator lost a hint of the aussie inflection, this story takes on a whole new dimension via the narration and you certainly get caught up in the feelings & emotions the author was trying to convey, so if you are a fan of audible narration, do so for this book....it is a wonderful experience.
Because I was guilty of judging a book by it's cover or in this case blurb, I very nearly missed out on a very special book. Thank you Kate Sterritt & your ardent followers for giving me such a delightful start to my 2018 reading list.
Loved it ❤
