Lucky Number Eleven (The Gibson Boys Series) Kindle Edition
The temperature skyrocketed in Chicago this week and it had nothing to do with the weather. Our two favorite ballers went head-to-head (or should we say helmet-to-helmet?) on the practice field and there’s video to prove it.
Sources tell us the (sweaty, aggressive, hot-as-heck) fight that got Branch “Lucky” Best, Finn Miller, and visiting Columbus quarterback Callum Worthington ejected from practice (you must see this video!) was not over a fumbled play. It was over nothing less than Layla James Miller, Finn’s younger sister.
Does Layla’s name sound familiar? It should. Until about five minutes ago, you could find her on Callum’s well-formed arm . . . until he gave us whiplash showing up in Tahiti with the face of Ares Cosmetics, Carly Mathewson. But Callum and Layla aren’t dating anymore, so where’s the beef?
Give us a sec.
Layla James is now scoring with Branch. Yeah. We’ll give that a minute to sink in.
Word has it Finn isn’t all that hyped about his sister playing ball with his (former?) best friend. Branch’s playboy image is well-known and even better documented. A keyword search of his name on our site alone brings up thousands of hits of him with women and rarely are two the same.
The question remains: why does Callum care?
We’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, we’ll be crying in our champagne and hoping our favorite bromance gets back on track. (And, seriously, go watch that video!)
USA Today Bestselling author Adriana Locke delivers a "sweet & steamy!" tale of a football hero, his best friend's little sister, and a surprise that might be an interception ... or a Hail Mary.

USA Today Bestselling author, Adriana Locke, writes contemporary romances about the two things she knows best—big families and small towns. Her stories are about ordinary people finding extraordinary love with the perfect combination of heart, heat, and humor.
She loves connecting with readers, fall weather, football, reading alpha heroes, everything pumpkin, and pretending to garden.
Hailing from a tiny town in the Midwest, Adriana spends her free time with her high school sweetheart (who she married over twenty years ago) and their four sons (who truly are her best work). Her kitchen may be a perpetual disaster, and if all else fails, there is always pizza.

I really enjoyed the storyline, the writing style of Adriana's that I enjoy anyway, but man it was so good!!! I literally couldn't put it down. I had to finish it and see how it ended.
Layla did get on my nerves a bit as she couldn't make up her mind, and was going back and forth. It's like a movie in which you want to yell "What in the hell are you doing woman?"
Layla and Branch meet as he plays football with her brother! He knows he can't be there for her in the way she deserves, but Layla has a surprise for him! And oh boy, doesn't Finn hate it!! Layla has her bestie Poppy there for support, and I love their friendship! I want to be friends with them!
Of course there's some humour in the book in which I loved too! There were some twists and turns, and I loved how protective Branch was with Layla when Callum was involved.
But all in all I really LOVED this book!
I also really enjoyed that it entertained with her other books in the Gibson Boys Series!!!!!! I was totally surprised, and thoroughly enjoyed it!!!!
I can't wait to read more in this series from the other authors and I want to find Finn and Poppy's book!

An eye opening take on the life style and culture of footballers. The male ego's definitely came out to play along with behaviors and opinions that rubbed me the wrong way.
My attention wandered for the first half but then I was sucked in completely as the story progressed.
Branch and Layla got hot and heavy pretty quickly.
Then she finds out she's pregnant and it's quite a shock.
Branch doesn't take the news very well, but he steps up when it counts.
Light and cute with a few tugs of pain.
Characters are well described and I'm interested in reading more stories about them.
Layla is such a fun and amazing FMC. She was dumped and kicked out by her boyfriend so he could shack up with a new girl who he then proceeds to take on the tropical getaway that Layla had planned for them. To escape for a little bit, she takes her best friend Poppy and heads up to the family cabin for a break. What she didn't expect was for her famous NFL star brother, Finn, to be there with his teammate and best mate, Branch. Layla is determined not to make the same mistakes and fall for a pro athlete again after her last 3 disasters, but Branch is making it hard for her to resist.
Branch was so well written! He's an arrogant player who never wants to settle down. He doesn't know what it is about Layla that draws him in, but he finds himself opening up to her like he's never done before. Despite Finn warning him against going for Layla, they have an amazing and hot weekend together, hiding it from Finn. But then reality comes crashing in. The unexpected fallout of their weekend together takes them both by surprise, and puts Branch on the outs with both Finn and Layla. But despite his initial reaction, Branch realises that Layla might be the best thing that ever happened to him and he makes an effort to win her back.
Layla also starts to realise there might be more to Branch, as his actions show him to be the kind and loving man that she so desperately wants, and needs, him to be.
Their story has its ups and downs, and Layla's ex keeps causing trouble for them, but ultimately that helps Layla see Branch for who he truly is - sometimes actions speak louder than words - so long as the motivation behind the action is known. Finn and Poppy are great supporting characters and I'm interested to see if they have their own story.
Definitely a book I would recommend, and I look forward to continuing to read more books by this author too.

Eu adorei tudo neste divertido romance.
I think I've read too many contemporary romances with professional athletes or "don't touch my sister" plots now.
Layla's brother Finn gives his BEST FRIEND a black eye when he finds out Branch slept with her (SPOILER: and got her pregnant). Come on! Layla is an adult and the sex was consensual. But it's ok for Finn to be a man-whore?
Branch is a total man-whore who has never wanted to settle down, enjoys his time with the groupies that hang around the team. As two single guys they live it up.
Layla has recently broken up with her long time boyfriend when she gets confirmation that he has been cheating, and she decides to live the single life and have fun. That is until she meets Branch. There is something between them, a chemistry, and they both feel it. After a great weekend together they decide to go their separate ways but they both end up thinking about the other.
What happens next changes both their lives forever. Will they ever end up together? Would Layla ever be able to trust such a player?
