First of all, before I start on my review I would just like everybody to please take a moment to admire the cover of this book. HOLY MOLY. HOT OR WHAT? Ok, now that I cleaned up my drool I can continue…This book was phenomenal. I absolutely loved every beautifully written word. I was invested in the story from start to finish. From the moment I read the synopsis I knew I had to read this story and I’m so glad I did. If you are looking for a beautifully written story, then look no further than Love Me In The Dark because Mia Asher can seriously write.
Valentina has not had the easiest times of late; her marriage is on the brink of ruin and as a result, she is unable to trust her husband like she once did. Once trust is broken, it’s really hard to earn it back. It takes one second to gain someone’s trust but a life-time to get it back once it’s broken. As a result Valentina is feeling alone, sad and is the shell of the person she once was.
"They say time heals all wounds, but I disagree. Grief never ends, it changes. You learn how to live with it, rebuild yourself from the shattered pieces around you until you’re whole again, but you will never be the same."
Valentina meets Sébastien in Paris while taking some time out to rediscover herself. When they first meet it’s under unusual circumstances and they kiss. An absolutely earth shattering kiss, the kind of kiss that makes you forget your own name and has the ability to change the course of your whole life.
The intense chemistry, passion and desire Valentina and Sébastien felt towards each other was electric. I felt every look, every touch and every desire. They had the kind of love that people only dream of and this book is the epitome of why I love to read romances so much…The feels.
I’m going to keep this review short, sharp and sweet and even though I am desperate to talk the ear off anyone who would listen about this book, I don’t want to spoil it for anyone, because this story was so breathtakingly beautiful it should be enjoyed spoiler free.
I could not recommend this story strongly enough. It is most definitely a favourite of mine so far this year. If you are looking for your next read to be an epic love story that is so beautifully written, then give this a go. I dare anyone to not fall head over heels in love with the very hot and sexy Parisian, Sébastien…

Love Me in the Dark Kindle Edition
From the bestselling author of Arsen. A broken love story comes a new sexy, emotional, and romantic standalone.
Two strangers in Paris ...
One passionate, earth-shattering kiss.
He was the artist upstairs
with the tantalizing smile and laughing eyes.
He was the devil inviting me to sin,
seducing me to dance in the bright moonlight.
He was desire and need.
When he touched me, my body sang.
My soul came alive.
But I belonged to another man,
and he didn't want to let me go.

I am a writer, a hopeless romantic, a wanderer, a dreamer, a cynic, and a believer. And, oh yes…I might be a bit crazy - but who isn't?
I believe in happy endings however I know that not everyone is lucky enough to get one, but such is life. I think fine lines exist to be pushed and possibly crossed.

Today I have popped my Mia Asher cherry with Love Me In The Dark - I know, I know, I haven't been under a rock all this time time, I know about her books but just finding time to read them has been the problem!
This is a sweet, sexy, sometimes sad but always hopeful story. Valentina is at a cross roads in her life and relationship. Her hubby is a d!ck, no other words for him, and she is on a journey of self discovery in Paris. You can't help but feel hopeful for her, but at times she annoyed me just a little.
Well, maybe a lot, since at one point I wanted to crawl into the book and clonk her over the head with my Kindle to knock some sense into her.
And by sense I mean Sebastian, the sexy french artist who is now her neighbour. He is all kinds of swoony and sexy and french - though the smoking thing is a bit of a turn off (but this could just be me).
I said before the Valentina's husband William is a d!ck. Well, the more the story progressed, the more and more I disliked him. And then we got some chapters from his POV and there really was not one redeeming feature about him. Just no.
I really was Valentina's biggest cheerleader (even when she was annoying me!). My heart was filled with hope that she would finally do what was right for her, would throw herself at Sebastian (or I would take her place!)
Love Me In The Dark is a sweet, beautiful story of self discovery, self worth and taking a chance on love.
Now I am going to make myself go back and read Ms Asher's earlier books.

When I read the blurb for this book and glanced maybe once or twice at that glorious cover - I was more than excited to read this book, and I'm feeling more than a little confused as to why this book just didn't do it for me because I honesty don't really know.
It didn't make my pulse rate soar, it didn't make me hold my breathe and it certainly didn't make me cry and I love a good old fashioned love story as much as anyone else.
It had all the right things going for it - married couple really in love , husband acting a dick and letting his wife down, a sexy Parisian artist thrown into the mix with the Eiffel Tower and it's twinkling lights in the background - it should of worked but sadly it didn't for me.
What was good about this book was the writing was really good, it also had the premises of a really good story but for me it lacked some sort of depth to it. I couldn't connect to the characters the way I wanted to and I really really did try.
I loved Sebastian, he was too good for this story, another time another place - yes definitely. He had the patience of a saint and deserved better. A beautiful man who ten years previous had suffered a tragedy in his life that had continued to effect him to this day. An artist based in Paris he should be every woman dream ----
Valentina - married to William, they have comfort, money, status but he works too hard and long hours are taking their toll on their marriage. A trip to Paris to rejuvenate the marriage and put that touch of romance and passion back into their lives; but things don't quite turn out like that and we get to see a different side to William.
I also didn't like Valentina very much. Far too weak and gullible, she needed to grow a pair on more than one occasion and I wanted to shake her really hard at times, in fact lots of times !!!!! I honestly couldn't for the life of me see what the attraction was for Sebastian.
And for all it's passion and romance - it wasn't sexy enough either, it so lacked that basic lust and passion and that certain connection that punches that feeling into your chest when reading a book like this, I kept waiting but that feeling but it never came for me.
I also found it over sickly TOO sweet if there is such a thing. It all became too much and I went through all this story which is told in each chatacter's POV only to be left wanting.
Then also for me the ending let it down too. It ended too quickly, it felt rushed and I was left looking for answers that wasn't there, at least not for me.
Disappointing - yes

TRUE LOVE ALWAYS FINDS A WAY!!!

Absolutely loved this book!! Sebastian's heart had been torn in two, broken and unwilling to love again. Maybe some day a woman would be able to break down his walls and just love him. Valentina is married to an over powering man she thought she loved, but he betrayed her with another woman. Trying to forgive him they plan a trip to Paris to renew their love. William, her husband makes excuses and she takes the trip alone. Deciding to stay and give herself time to think, she meets Sebastian and there is an instant attraction. Their chemistry is over the top and their lust for one another is scorching.I could not put the book down. The characters are so well defined, Mia certainly made me hate William and I loved both Valentina and Sebastian so much!! This story had all the feels, from extreme angst and sadness to the highest of highs where true love bloomed. This was my first book by Mia Asher and I can't wait to read another!!!

A beautiful, scorching hot romance that delivers The Feels
Reviewed in the United States on 10 May 2017Verified Purchase
Mia Asher, you nearly wrecked me with this book. You made me cry for Sébastien within the first ten pages, but then you showed me romance. And I loved the romance of Love Me in the Dark
If you've read Mia Asher's other books - and I'm looking at you, Easy Virtue and Sweetest Venom - then you know that she loves the angst. She makes her characters work for their happy endings, putting them through tremendous emotional torture. This book is different. It is romantic almost from its (heartbreaking) start. There are different types of romances, though, and Asher explores them.
There is the romance between a husband and wife. As Mia Asher shows, though, sometimes that romance can be the romance of "what if," the romance of expectations not met. It's easy to delude yourself behind the façade of romance, making yourself believe that a bond exists when it actually does not. But what happens when you face reality? Or, worse, when you keep trying to convince yourself of something that isn't true?
There is the romance between friends, even two people who begin to form a friendship. These relationships are about love, too, you know, and without them, where would we be? Valentina discovers this. Alone in Paris, she must forge friendships, and these relationships help her gain confidence and find her strength.
There is the romance of family, both realized and imagined. Sébastien has lost family, and he treasures those whom he still has. He knows the importance of family and how irreplaceable it is. Valentina, on the other hand, looks to a family to whom she is not related by blood for bonds that do not exist. She finds herself believing in something that she merely wishes existed.
And of course there is the romance of lovers. Mia Asher will keep you waiting (and waiting and waiting) for this romance to be fully realized. She uses this time to bring you closer to her characters, revealing and developing them so that your heart is as fully invested in their story as theirs are. When Valentina does something unbelievably - let's just say shortsighted - you will want to jump into the book, grab her by the shoulders, and shout at her. But Valentina has a romance with the idea of things, with the wishes of them. It takes her a while to realize that she deserves a romance with truth, with someone who is actually, fully, and completely with her.
Sébastien is one of those Hot Heroes who captivates you from the start, pulling you closer to him with every page. His story begins this book, and that's a purposeful choice from Asher. Without Sébastien, the romance would fall flat. His desires, his needs, his failings, and his strengths will hold you captive in all the best ways.
Despite this being a (very) slow burn of a Hot Romance Novel, Asher delivers some searing sexy times. Strap on those vibrators, girls, because she will leave your loins quivering with need. Few writers know how to pace the love scenes quite as skillfully as Mia Asher does. She knows when you need them, how you need them, and what sort they need to be. It's pretty awesome.
I have so much love for this book, and I ask that you not let the vagueness of this review deter you from reading it. The less you know, the better you will be. Go in with as little knowledge as possible and enjoy reading the way Mia Asher unfolds her story and characters. Bring some tissues, though, because she'll make you feel All The Feels. And after you read this, please come back and let me know your thoughts. This book bears - it needs - discussing.

When Mia Asher writes a book, you have to buckle up! And when she writes love triangles, you better grab tissues and chocolate and whatever else gives you comfort, because she will take you on a ride that leaves you breathless.
Some will like these kind of love triangles, some won't. But one thing is undeniable and that is Mia Asher's beautiful writing that takes you right into the story and the characters mind. She creates characters that are full of flaws that make you want to shake them and see some sense (like I wanted to do with Val), but you love them nonetheless and want them to be happy. Then there are those characters that seem too good to be true and even when you try to protect your heart They capture it bit by bit (like Sébastien)!
I don't wanna talk too much about the story because it's one you have to experience for yourself. I laughed and giggled, I swooned, I was frustrated like hell, I felt such deep hate like rarely before. I wanted to travel to Paris right away to feel some closeness to the story and characters.
Love Me In The Dark is one of those books that take you on a journey for love and finding yourself, to learn what's really important in life and have you reflect on your own life!

A Gorgeous Beautiful Romance that has a Touch of the Forbidden and Lots of Heart!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 10 May 2017Verified Purchase
LOVE ME IN THE DARK is the highly anticipated STANDALONE contemporary romance by Mia Asher. Famed for her deliciously angsty love triangles, LOVE ME IN THE DARK marks a departure from that theme and see's Asher delve into her sublimely romantic, dreamy side. A side that took me on a passionate journey of love and hope with a beautiful topping of sexiness, a heroine who rediscovers her true self and a hero who made me swoon and love and feel so much. Together they pulled me into their story, their dreams and made me believe that their love should find a way.
Valentina is a woman who has lost her way, a woman I immediately warmed to, felt for. I believed in her motivation and all her reasons why, reasons that slowly unravel and are perfectly depicted within the canvas of the story arc. As the blurb imparts, she meets a beautiful stranger in Paris. A man with his own traumatic, emotive past. A past that will no doubt touch readers’ hearts and make them immediately feel for Sebastian, engage their emotion in his story, and long for his happiness. I longed and I hoped and I swooned over Sebs, his dialogue, his thoughts and his actions towards Valentina are all showcased with a touch of perfection to create a hero to love.
The important supporting cast members in all their technicolour characterisation each add to the development, depth and feel of the narrative and the protagonists at the heart of this passionate, romantic love story. One that shows healing, heart and soul and as it unravels, readers will have a clear picture of where they long for this story to travel and will equally wait with baited breath for the outcome. LOVE ME IN THE DARK does not disappoint as a standalone contemporary romance and true to this author's style she provides those much craved for elements that made my heart beat fast, gave me goose bumps, made me catch my breath, and evoked my emotion in the best possible way showcasing an exquisite skill in the way she crafts and sculpts her words to create the most vivid, beautiful pictures and emotion through charismatic characters and prose, making me feel and care and love. And Valentina and Sebastian made me love them so very much.
Much of the setting is in Paris and the words penned took me there, gave me the Parisian placement, I felt the je ne sais quoi in the telling. It's beautiful and dreamy and so very hopeful. Of course, this would not be a true Mia Asher story without a certain level of angst and whilst readers will not find the gut wrenching, verging on traumatic angst of her previous novels, LOVE ME IN THE DARK has the perfect level of emotion evoked from the characters producing the kind of gentle angst that leads to complete fulfilment in our reading material.
An unforgettable story, LOVE ME IN THE DARK is Mia Asher at her most romantic and beautiful best. A gorgeous beautiful romance that has a touch of the forbidden and lots of heart, one that I hope is discovered and adored by romance lovers everywhere.
