Infernium: A Dark Paranormal Gothic Romance (Nightshade Duology Book 2) Kindle Edition
Even the most powerful love can't save a condemned soul
Pain is an abyss.
How naive of me to think I’d already reached the very depths of it when fate shook my world with a crushing blow. It turns out, there are fathomless levels of pain, like a winding labyrinth of doors leading to shadowy figures and long-forgotten secrets. The kind of inescapable descent into madness that twists nightmares into reality.
What lies at the end of this obscure path I have yet to discover, but where it begins, is a place called Infernium. An asylum, feared by those in Nightshade and untrodden by the angels who’ve forsaken its many lost souls.
Some say it’s the gateway to hell.
Others believe it’s where you go when the last flicker of hope dies out.
For me, it’s where I’ve damned myself for eternity–my penance for a crime against the heavens, and home to the demons that claw at my mind.
Yet, not even they stand a chance against my dark angel, Jericho. He fears nothing. Except losing me.
The longer I remain trapped, though, the stronger this darkness inside of me grows. A duality dividing my heart between love and revenge.
And, soon, saving me may no longer be an option.

About the author
Keri Lake is a USA Today Bestselling author of dark romance who specializes in demon wrangling, vengeance dealing and wicked twists. Her stories are gritty, with antiheroes that walk the line of good and bad, and feisty heroines who bring them to their knees. When not penning books, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughters, and their rebellious Labrador (who doesn’t retrieve a damn thing). She runs on strong coffee and alternative music, loves a good red wine, and has a slight addiction to dark chocolate.

Like in Nightshade, we get multiple POV to allow us to understand what happened in the past and the effects in the future, the friends and the foe and the villainous evil. My heart hurt with the many revelations towards the end, especially when they entered Infernium. But the delight of the epilogues was the soothing balm I required.
I look forward to more words from Keri in the future.
I received an arc copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Infernium is a very dark, gothic horror romance of which I loved every minute. If you get scared easily maybe don’t read this one while home alone, or without ample lighting.
First off, this is book two in the Nightshade duology so everyone should have a fair idea of what’s in store for them. For those that still aren’t sure, heed the warning there are a lot of triggers both on and off page. I was lucky enough to get an ARC, which I’m eternally grateful for also thank you COVID for completely clearing my schedule so I could read uninterrupted.
There are so many twists and turns to this book with a new layer added around every corner. I honestly can’t remember when I last read a book that was this detailed. I remember thinking at around the 70% mark that I was running out of book fast and had no idea how everything could possibly resolve with so few pages left. Like Nightshade this book takes place in the past and present, on Earth and in Nightshade. While the Earthly realm gets left behind after the first few chapters there are plenty of pop culture references to tie it back in. The past and present both focus predominantly on Jerricho/ The Barron with Farryn taking a bit more of a backseat in this book.
I really loved reading The Barrons chapters and even more so how they connected to the present storyline. Each new piece of information gleaned helped connect the dots with different parts of the story. The Barron who is young and arrogant while also innocent and loyal was a great contrast with his older present self Jerricho who is possessive and ruthless in getting what he wants. Who wants a hero when you can have a villain that would let the whole world burn just to have you?
Farryn in this book, while I did like her character, boy I found her frustrating. While she did question the things happening to her at the same time she kind of just went along with everything. Part of what I found frustrating was that she internalized so much and yet she would have interactions with some characters where she would open up completely leaving the others around her (mainly Jerricho) piecing things together.
The newest additions to the cast were Vespyr and Vaszhago who are both complete opposites and yet it worked because they created balance. I definitely feel like they need their own books. Keri I’m looking at you when I say that…hint, hint!
Anyway, I’m going to sign out now before I give something away. If you love all things horror set in a dark gothic world you won’t be able to put this book down, I know I wasn’t able to. It will have you laughing, crying, and at times even wanting to throw your Kindle across the room. You won’t be able to put this one down.
Perfect for fans of RuNyx and Harley Laroux.

Excellent world building, character building, suspense, and shockers. A unique storyline that, aside from a few cringe lines from the fmc, is immaculate. The cringe is certainly a "me-problem" since I prefer more mature fmcs, but Farryn was written perfectly appropriate for her personality and stage of life.
Tons of spice, but ngl some scenes made me laugh. I really could not take the feather trick seriously lol...
Highly recommend to those who love a dark fantasy romance.
