Hate You Not: An Enemies to Lovers Romance Kindle Edition
From USA Today Bestseller Ella James, an emotional enemies-to-lovers romance about secrets, family, and finding your way...
I didn't know I was that person. You know--the one who gets the kids. But that's what the will said. June Lawler: Legal Guardian. All my sister's kids have ever known is San Francisco, but I have to take them back to our family's small-town farm.
The last thing I'm expecting is the dark car rolling down my dirt driveway. The man who steps out of it is as rich as he is rude, and I want nothing to do with him. Even if my traitor body didn't get the message.
***
My little brother was everything to me. Now even his kids are gone. Spirited away to Heat Springs, Georgia--population 298.
They're living on a farm that's on the brink of bank foreclosure with a 26-year-old who didn't finish high school. Nowhereville is not the place for little Mastersons, but I'll get them back.
"June Bug" Lawler is poorer than the red dirt she comes from. It's money she must want, and I've got plenty of that. I've never met a problem that my money couldn't solve. This country girl won't be the first.--
Now an Amazon top 40 bestseller!

Although this tale deals with alot of sadness I found it to be quite cute. June is a strong fierce woman. Burke blazes into this story a looking like an arrogant rich jerk. They are brought together by the tragic deaths of their siblings whom were married together and left two children in the care of June. There is a humble farm, digs and a meddling brother. I didn’t love this one as much as previous books I’ve read of Ella James’ seemed like it needed another run through for grammar but otherwise a cute story.

This was a very good Enemies to Lovers story. It’s wasn’t your usual work rivals or neighbors who irritate each other. Both June and Burke want to do what’s right for the children of their deceased siblings.
June is the newly minted guardian for her niece & nephew after the sudden death of her sister as brother in law. She’s got the best heart and all the love to give them. She’s 100% in the right place for this job.... except that it moves these children across the country to Georgia away from their San Francisco home.
The move away from city life and all their privilege is what workaholic Burke has issue with. Without ever meeting June he has an image in his mind of small town farm life and he wants none of that for his nice and nephew.
However, once he meets June, sees her with the kids and the life that they will have, his perception changes.
Will chemistry win out? Will this broken family find happiness? HEA guarantee, you just have to ride the story rollercoaster to get there. It’s a great journey though.
Narration from Zachary Webber and Ava Erickson was superb. Zachary’s performance of the voices of June’s family, friends and acquaintances was an experience not soon forgotten. I was enraptured as soon as he asked for directions. I would lose track of what I was doing and just listen to his voice, completely swept away. Ava brought June to life! I was totally swept away by her inner turmoil as she dealt with becoming a guardian, fighting with Burke and falling in love.

A cute, fairly typical romance novel which was a good time reading. The book opens on our heroine getting custody of her sister’s children after an accident kills the sister and her husband. She lives on a farm and is not well off and wonders how she will look after them. The story is complicated by the rich hero who is the brother of the children’s father (and I’ve realised how complicated explaining relationships is without names).
Our hero starts off behaving quite boorishly but is put in his place by our spunky Southern heroine. He is eventually won over by the Southern charm of the town (which seems a little cliched to me but I am not familiar with the whole North vs South cultural differences so say whether the description is accurate or not).
The story alternates between the hero and heroine first person POVs. There wasn’t enough differentiation between the two voices but it was fine. The blurb promised more sparks but they did fizzle out quickly. The enemy angle didn't last for long - for me this was a good thing as I find that if the hero / heroine behaves badly for the majority of the book I am not convinced about the romance. However, I did think there was an element of false advertising with the blurb and title.
This is available on Kindle Unlimited which is always good. I’m going to rate this 3 stars as it was pleasant while reading and made me smile. It won’t stay without but as part of the KU subscription I think its worth checking out.

How can the enemy come in such a delicious package?? Despite Burke coming in on the aggressive to get his niece and nephew back, he is nothing but heat and sweetness when his true colours shine through. June’s chip on her shoulder usually keeps her heart protected but that only lasts so long against Burke. I laughed at the antics and cried through the pain. The ingredients to a great love story.
The narrators did a great job making you feel the characters emotions and go on the journey with them.

June is strong and I liked her a lot. Burke made me laugh and swoon. The kids were adorable!
They might be from different places but they were perfect for each other!
This is my first book from this author and I'm going to read more for sure.

This book started off good but got boring fast. I just skimmed over a good chunk past the half way mark.

It is a very good story, it involves kids and other kind of topics that are relevant.
An adorable romance, with a sweet couple.. Then why 4 stars? Because is just it, you don't captured by the story and the end is very predictable and cliche.

I loved it!!! There is no way you can't find a character to relate to. It doesn't matter if you live in a city or a farm Hate You Not have something for everyone. Sometimes I felt like I was reading about my life, I laugh deeply and as a Potterhead I loved all the references. Thanks Ella James for your words.

Being the reason for happy ever after
Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2020Verified Purchase
This book seemed like a bit of a departure from Ella's usual style of writing. Although, It has it's angst, It was a much lighter book than some of her others. CAptivating and a binge-worthy just the same.
Tragedy brings Burke and June together. They both want the best for their niece and nephew, however they are not in complete agreement what that is. They each have preconceived assumptions about eachother. They start to work thru them, becoming friends and finally lovers. However, they will have to work for their happy ever after.
June to Burke:
"When I’m with you, it doesn’t matter…common sense doesn’t, I mean. Do I hate that? Sort of.” Her voice quakes a little on that word. “But that’s just how some things are. I started thinking how some people just feel so familiar. When you meet them, it’s like they’re already yours. Happened when I first met Leah. Like we’d been best friends before, and there she was again; it was just natural. Sort of felt that way with you, too. As soon as I stopped wanting to slap you silly, I just…cared about you.” She squeezes her eyes shut, inhales, and then covers her face with one curved hand. “Certain people bring out certain things. Sometimes you can’t control it. Maybe it’s our duty to endure that kind of feeling. Price of having bonds with people we love.”
