Everest Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 917 ratings

From New York Times Bestselling Author, S.L. Scott, comes a ROMANTIC SUSPENSE STANDALONE that will have you on the edge of your seat and swooning over this new ALPHA BILLIONAIRE.

Six foot three.

Dynamic green eyes.

Utterly irresistible.

Ethan Everest stole my breath the first time I saw him. He romanced me with skill, dazzled me with his charisma, and proceeded to steal my heart right after. I might have fallen for his easy-going smile the first time we met, but I fell for him the second time.

Honey-colored hair.

Cherry-kissed lips.

Captivatingly gorgeous.

Singer Davis was the first, and only, woman to ever intimidate me. She spoke to my heart with her wit, seduced me with her eyes, and became the only thing that made sense in a world that made none. I let her slip through my fingers once. I won't make that mistake twice.

Secrets broke us apart. Can a second chance bring us back together?

Batter Up!
Another winning home run for S.L.Scott.
Everest is the lastest offering from S.L.Scott and once again she has outdone herself. Ethan Everest and Singer Davis make a very interesting and beautiful story together. I love Singer’s character with her determination, strength, capacity to love, her open mind and her beautiful soul. I can honestly say that for once I was really in awe of the female character moreso than the male.
Ethan is a self made man with a good heart and not the usual arrogant alpha male billionaire we read about. He is every woman’s walking fantasy and will have you swooning offen.
Everest is a wonderful story with some unexpected twists in this soul searing read. S.L.Scott has a way of making you fall I love with her characters and wanting more. This is another one of her amazing books that you would be crazy not to read.

In the last couple of years I have spent a lot of time listening to audio books. They have forced me to slow down and concentrate on what I am hearing. I find that this has benefited me when I read books. It might take me longer than previously but I take my time, lingering on words and thinking about what I read.

Everest is one of those books designed for those of us who like to linger. The book’s slower pace makes it all the more easier savour as you read and digest each line. As tempting as it was to stop and research the book online, I let the story unfold in its own time.

When Ethan and Singer first meet, they choose to let the opportunity of getting together pass them by. In the year that follows they see each other on the rare occasion but never try to connect again until Singers BFF Mel decides to act as matchmaker and arranges a date between them.

As they spend time together, I really enjoyed learning about both Ethan and Singer. They both live in NYC but their lives are very different. Ethan might have money but this wealth comes with betrayals and people wanting to use him. Singer definitely has no money and with her dream-job looking more and more like an unachievable fantasy, she is suffering a crisis of conscience.

As the story unfolds, Ethan and Singer’s discoveries about each other only leave them wanting more. Sadly, Ethan’s power and wealth have made him and those close to him targets and tragic events threaten to tear Ethan and Singer apart.
It’s not all doom and gloom. There are plenty of humorous and romantic moments throughout the book that lighten what could have (thankfully not) delved into a real angsty read.

I relished this book. I highlighted so many passages that it’s a wonder there are any unmarked pages left in my eBook. You could feel the love Ethan and Singer had for each other. And even though their material circumstances were worlds apart, they were both strong enough to override any doubts they had about each other over this.

This book is definitely headed to my keeper shelf to be filed under slow-burn.

Let me start off by saying I have a full blown girl crush on Singer. She's a beautiful soul who I instantly warmed to. Ethan was a really nice surprise. Not the usual alpha a$$hole I have read lately. I loved his genuine nature, his wit and his easy affection. Don't get me wrong - he's definitely still all alpha. The chemistry in this one is fantastic - wall sex anyone 🔥🔥
It's a well written slowburn love story. Add in plenty of action, dash of heartbreak and great supporting characters and you've got an awesome read.

Everest by S.L. Scott is a standalone second chance romance told in dual POV. An emotional and engaging read, from the back story of their initial meeting that is slowly revealed to the drama that unfolds as Ethan's secrets come to light.

Singer is a small town girl with big city dreams. She, and her best friend Melanie, moved to New York from Boulder after college and have been doing their best to achieve their dream goals. Making the most of what they have they live their lives to the fullest. This includes gummy bears and wine and chick flicks as well as the occasional night out on the town. It is on one of these nights that Singer's path once again crosses with Ethan's since they first met on a fire escape almost a year ago at a mutual friend's party. This time, however, he engages her in conversation and leaves her eager for more. More conversation, more interaction, more Ethan.

Ethan has had a bad time of it lately. One moment, one wrong decision led to the biggest betrayal of his life and pushed him further away from the only woman that has ever captured and held his interest. Singer Davis. He does all he can to keep his distance, for her sake, tangling this woman up in his disaster of a life is the last thing he wants but she is everything he DOES want.

The first half of the book was a slow build but it was worth it to get to the drama in the last half. Emotional, hot, heart-wrenching, but with a happy ending I would be eager to read more books following on from the secondary characters in this story. Enjoy!

I have loved all of SL Scott's books so far but this really has to be one of the best. It was a total rollercoaster ride from beginning to end.
It is the story of troubled billionaire Ethan Everest who meets gorgeous struggling with life in New York girl Singer Davis. They initially met at a party when he almost kissed her on a fire escape, an epic missed moment for both of them. They neet up again about a year later, and though he is trying to keep it casual and be just friends, Singer can tell that he is into her and his mixed signals totally confuse her. Ethan is hiding some dark secrets and does not want to get Singer sullied by his past as he sees her as being pure and innocent.
Eventually everything is revealed and their love story becomes a nightmare as it becomes obvious that someone is out to get them.
I loved the way that the story unfolded. I was happy for them, I was sad for them and I certainly did not expect that ending. Couldn't put it down, 3am sleep time again!
Don't miss this one it is an amazing read, you will not be disappointed. I did not receive an ARC but volunteered this review as I love everything that I have read from SL.

I consider myself lucky to be able to read books regularly. Especially now that I can find so many amazing authors that have come to be available since more and more Indie Author's are able to get their voices and stories told. I am an avid reader as I have said many of times on my blog, and as the mom of three small children, I horde the free time I get...When I say that I choose to stay up all night long to read a book because I couldn't possibly have put it down, I mean it. As exhausted as I was all day today, I still don't regret making the decision I made to read through the night to finish Everest by S.L. Scott.

I wanted to read the book because it was S.L. Scott and I love her work since finding her...I was hooked on Everest from the blurb really. I mean, she wrote the first line of the blurb like she picked my heartthrob right from my mind: "Six foot three. Dynamic green eyes. Utterly irresistible." So it went without saying that I was intrigued. but something in the blurb just told not to miss out on this book right now! And I didn't. I loved a whole host of stuff about the book, and yes, Ethan is definitely one of them. But first I'd like to write about our heroine in this book. Singer Davis. I was CAPTIVATED by her. I can usually find something to appreciate in heroines, but this girl was like truly radiant and I can only see her in my mind, you know?!?! She was also "more beautiful on the inside" then the outside. S.L. Scott really wrote a beautiful woman that just got better and better as the story progressed because she continued to prove to me just how deeply she herself had imagined this heroine.

Ethan Everest, as previously mentioned was suitably hot. I liked the duel sides we saw for Ethan's character. At their first encounter, he is a man that's full of charisma and the life of party personality. At their second encounter, Ethen is vastly different. This is almost superficial for me to say, but Ethan's looks are still well above the rest of the men in the room, but instead of being full of life, he's a far more stoic man. I think it helped me to understand just how much the drama of the year between the first chance and second chance between Singer & Ethan actually affected who Ethan had become. It makes his vulnerability more apparent and I felt he was less flakey. I didn't at first, at first I was thinking he was a flake...a player. But S.L. Scott made me see as the story unfolded a very broken man...AND that my friend, was genius! I mean, Ethan Everest had everything he could ever want in terms of what money could buy him, but it has also cost him everything! In addition to loving Singer and Ethan, I feel like the secondary characters, Melanie, Aaron, Lars and Frank were all exceptionally well done. I thought I was going to want to bean Chip at one point, but S.L. Scott QUICKLY fixed my notion that he was a d-bag. Even if the rest of the book was a flop (which it wasn't) the strength of her characters made the book worth wild.

Now lets talk about the rest of the book. The Cover?!?! SMOKING HOT! and honestly, the epitome of how I pictured Ethan. I mean, he was after all, all-man and this cover model just screams it from the loosened tie and open shirt, to the chest hair, and five o'clock shadow!! The story itself overall was just unbelievably good! It wasn't overly angsty-although I was completely heartbroken at one point. I will admit it was a little slow at first...what with the explanations of Ethan and Singer's first and second chances...and the missed opportunities in-between. Yet, I actually really appreciated the way she wove this tale for us as well. I mean, obviously it didn't stay slow or there is no way I could have possibly stayed awake all night long. Just like in sci-fy, great world building has a reason...and so did the pace S.L. Scott initiated this book...because it very quickly changes and becomes everything you may (or may not) feel like it wasn't. I believed there was a reason it wasn't balls to the wall and I was right. I love the way S.L. Scott writes. I mean, obviously I've reviewed books for her before, so I knew that I could expect a higher than normal level of quality with regard to spelling, grammar, syntax, etc. As I read, I loved the baseball analogies that S.L. Scott incorporated to the story. I also love her skill with writing the sexy times. I definitely think she stepped the attraction and chemistry up between Ethan and Singer. Then, there was these instances when the words just jumped right out at me...

"That time I saw him with you at happy hour...Sparks didn't fly. They incinerated the sky."

"As we roll out of the parking garage, the overhead lights reflect in her eyes, and I see a glint of the girl who first stole my heart. If it takes sacrificing a four-hundred-thousand-dollar car, so be it. That spark of life is worth more."

"...The pleasure I thought I'd feel being in the power position isn't there. There is no satisfaction in losing your dreams and best friend through betrayal."

These are told in no particular order and are not used to spoil the book for you. They just really resonated with me from the moment I read them and throughout the day since I finished the book...I reviewed this on behalf of my blog, but mostly because I just was dying to get my hands on more of S.L. Scott's work. I hope you honestly skipped this review and just bought the book altogether! Otherwise, I sincerely hope you buy it right now!!!

OH holy WOW!! I have just finished this book and i am honestly lost for words, i’m a jumble of emotions. You know that feeling when you finish a book, and you are in a total zone and lost, words fail you and you don’t know if you want to cry or hug yourself because it was that damned good and don’t want it to end !!! This is one of those books. There is so much heart and soul in this couples story, it reaches the very deepest depths of you!

Ethan Everest, trust me this is a name you will never forget once you read this book !!

Ethan Everest and Singer Davis first met at a party, and they spent a short time together, both feeling the instant attraction and draw, just as they are about to share a kiss they are disturbed and Ethan is dragged away. Neither of them have ever forgot that moment.

A lot of things have happened in Ethan’s life when he runs into Singer again. No matter how much he wishes that this time he could do things right, he can’t bring himself to push the baggage he’s now having to deal with upon her, yet he’s determined to have her in his life, even if right now that can only be as friends. Can he risk losing her if he tells her everything? Singer is confused, her feelings for Ethan haven’t changed and she knows being put into the “friend” bracket will destroy her when she wants so much more, but having Ethan in her life in any capacity is something she would prefer to having no Ethan at all.

S.L. Scott has yet again given us characters that melt our insides to mush, softens your heart and breaks it. There are so many little curves in this book that emotionally your on edge with every page. You become so deeply involved and captivated, nothing else will exist. Ethan just blew me away, and i adored Singer, she’s a woman who loves with her whole heart and gives her everything. By the end of this book, i was emotionally drained and elated at the same time, smiling yet crying, happy yet sad, but also sure i had just read a love story that will stay with me forever !!!

5.0 out of 5 stars This book affected my head and my heart

Everest was my third book by S.L. Scott and this is by far my favorite now!

"That man. He’s affecting my head and my heart. That only means one thing—Trouble."

I really don't know where to begin. Maybe with saying that Ethan Everest is the most perfect book-boyfriend I've met since I'm addicted to reading romance books. I fell for him like he fell for Singer: as soon as he first laid eyes on her. I've noticed throughout the whole book: This man seriously seems to have no flaws. Ethan is kind, attentive, charming, caring, smart and with a good sense of humor. In addition to that he's very protective of what he loves. He puts himself last when he should be putting himself first and buries his feelings only that others can come first. Ethan is confident and he owns every room or place he enters with so much ease it's almost unbelievable.
The fact, that he's ridiculously handsome and rich, that's only the cherry on top. And I would love him even if he wasn't. It was so easy to see him the way Singer sees him: Prince Charming par excellence!
If I could put together the man of my dreams, I would pick Ethan right out of this book.

"But there’s something about Singer. She’s in a league of her own, and she doesn’t even realize it."

Singer is also one perfect heroine herself. She's beautiful inside out and seeing her through Ethan's eyes is great experience. She is strong minded and independent. Singer cares deeply and loves freely. She's trusting, trustworthy and loyal to the bone. But she's also a dreamer with her head in the clouds and her feet firmly on the ground. She's hopelessly romantic and a strong believer. If Singer enters a room she shines like the sun and everyone is automatically drawn to her but she's totally oblivious to this fact.
I saw myself in her so easily.

“Like the hours, it’s not about the minutes that make them up, but the moments that make them memorable.” - This quote describes the message of this book perfectly. The Ethan's and Singer's story shows us how our decisions in life influence our present and future. How valuable time is. That it is important to follow your heart on a way that leads you to being happy with the people you love. Dream big and don't be afraid to go for your dream. And yes, trust doesn't comes easily and it shouldn't and you should always be aware that trust can be broken more easily than it's build. But to trust is essential and can be even more rewarding.

"But her outlook on life, the way she sees me, the peace she brings to my life, she’s my North Star. She’s the one I look to when I’m struggling to find my way home." - This goes both ways. Ethan and Singer are so perfect together. They both were looking for a home they never knew they wanted and became each others save heaven.

There is one part in this book, a twist that came totally unexpected and broke my heart. It took me as much by surprise as it hit the main characters. And yes, it had my eyes water. Because what happened is one of the things in live I'm most afraid of. The way Ethan and Singer deal with it is like "best practice". Giving the other the space they need and still being there trusting to find back to each other. Trusting that love can be enough.

What I love about this book is the fact that everything build slowly. Nothing felt rushed and it has some kind of natural, realistic aura.

“It’s never been about repaying the sun. It’s about making the sun shine in the dark. Let me be your moon and light your night."

Thank you Suzie for this amazing story. This is what every romantic girl and romance fan dreams of! You've outdone yourself with Everest and its way on my all-time-fav list was an easy one.

"His love for me runs deep. My love for him is bigger than the mountain sharing his name."
