Depraved by Eva Charles is the first book in her brand new Devil's Duet. A new foray into the darker side of Charleston and the upper class elite.

Gabrielle Duval is a kick-butt woman with a boutique hotel to run and the last thing she expects is for JD Wilder to show up throwing his weight around after 15 years in her rear view. When he had her sent away all those years ago she vowed never to forgive him, and at first it is easy to hold to that. But as his reappearance in her life becomes more intense she is starting to see the past with clearer eyes than her 15 year old self.

JD Wilder swore he'd leave Gabrielle alone and safe but with his father now the president-elect he needs to rally the troops, keep her safe and carefully collect the damning evidence that will put the devil away for good.

Intriguing, well-written, hot as hell and ends of a cliffhanger which is picked up in book 2, Delivered. This is my first book by this author but it won't be my last. Enjoy!

Addictive From The Start

This was my first book by this new to me author and I am glad I took the plunge. I'm not a fan of political drama but the story of JD and Gabrielle far outweighed this aspect of the book.

JD stole my heart from the very beginning. With his troubled soul he feels he deserves the life he's led. Depraved of the one woman who could give him everything his heart desired. His separation from Gabrielle isn't of his own choosing, it's forced on him by the man he despises most in the world, his father.

JD & Gabrielle's reunion was never in a million years going to be smooth sailing. Too many years had gone by with them both hurting quietly for the lose of the other. Neither could predict the events that would accompany JD back into her life.

These 2 dragged me in hook, line and sinker to their heartbreaking story of young love never lost. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough to find out if true love was strong enough to overcome the Devil that was chasing them. Reader beware as this is book 1 in a duet you just know you are gonna be left hanging. I was cursing up a storm when I reached the last page, but thankfully the author knew this would happen and book 2 isn't far away. I so can't wait to find out how this delicious duet ends for these 2 whose chemistry throughout the whole book was off the charts.

JD has lent her parents money for a treatment for her mother, and in return he wants her, but she knows he wants her for his plaything. JD gives her no choice, she has to come willingly, or her mother’s treatments stop. She won’t be his whore but seeing him can’t deny she still wants him.
JD knows Gabrielle needed his protection, he wasn’t going to allow her to be used again. He has a plan and knows he has to be careful about it. Meeting with his father he knows he has to keep up appearance, and nearly doesn’t when his father mentions Gabrielle, but he remembers his end game and he has to protect her.
Gabrielle knows that she still loves JD, but she remembers the past, with strange things happening she can’t help but believe him when he says he wants to protect her but doesn’t understand why he won’t tell her why.
JD has always wanted Gabrielle, and has always done everything to protect her, but with the strange things happening will he be able to protect her while he works on his end game, and will Gabrielle hate him in the end.
Ends in a cliff hanger can’t wait for book two.

2nd Chance Romantic suspense!

Depraved is a 2nd chance romantic suspense, Charles is a new to me author and this book had it all.

Gabrielle had her heart broken 15 years ago and then sent away; when Julian walks back into her life she has no leverage and has to agree to his terms in order to save her mother. When the lines get blurred and Gabby’s feelings start to change a new threat comes into the picture put everything she has worked for in the line of fire.

I personally enjoyed this book, I felt the first third of the book was a bit slow for my liking but once the story got to the half way point, I couldn’t put it down. The suspense and chemistry were on high alert and kept me wanting more.

Depraved is left on a cliff-hanger and I cannot wait to get my hands-on book 2, Delivered.

Almost immediately, I had mixed feelings about JD. He is a complicated character and this is seen with his actions. Sometimes he is incredibly sweet and gentle and other times, cold and cruel. He can be a real bas**** too. I don't blame Gabrielle for her hatred of him and it's easy to understand why she agrees to his terms. People would do anything for someone they love, even a deal with a devil. I must admit though, there were moments when I was irritated with Gabrielle and her choices. At times, I felt as though she was a masochist because she knew that heartache would follow and, yet, she chose to go through with it. Despite this, the story sucked me in and I was turning pages quickly to discover more about this complicated duo. It's hard to place into words what exactly it is about the story that interested me. Perhaps it was a combination of the different characters, the plot, and the flow of the story. Nothing is what it seems and dangers are lurking in the shadows. But the only person who can see them is JD. By the end of the story, I had a greater appreciation of JD and, perhaps, a greater understanding of the man himself. There are wonderful characters in this story, particularly, JD's brothers. Smith is also one of my favourites. I especially enjoyed the banter between Smith and JD. I'm interested to see where the story will go from here and how the secrets will unfold.

I found Eva Charles in the beginning of this year, and her books were such a captivating read, that I devoured them within days. I’m currently rereading it, and honestly it’s just like at the first time, keeping me engrossed and in suspense of what’s coming next. Whole series is dark, delicious, intriguing with violent twists and turns, lies, deception and deeply hidden family secrets.

Fifteen years pass and Gabrielle comes back into town to purchase and renovate a local hotel while JD’s father is elected president. That’s where their story begins, which at first was a bit confusing but their past is told through memories and the blanks are filled in quickly enough. Their journey is very angsty and drama filled but I could tell there are hidden secrets to be uncovered about what really happened fifteen years ago. JD and Gabrielle have great chemistry and the spice is fantastic. I’m excited to read the next book.

Wow I’m impressed I’m sitting all worked up after finishing Depraved. It’s one of those books that pulls you in with Hot dirty sex and a plethora of red herrings.
We meet Gabrielle and J.D or Julian when J.D blackmails Gabrielle into their arrangement .See how I throw out a few details to get you interested. It' so much more, but I want you to enjoy it the way I did.
It very hard to know what to write about without giving to much away. So I will say it had everything I enjoyed, kinky sex one on one , great chemistry all leading me to an agitated mess because I have wait until March to find out what has happened. So in other words a excellent piece of romantic suspense with a cliffhanger. I have no idea who is responsible for all the trouble but I still loved it. Told from both povs so it felt I know more than you anyone Ha Ha.I thing I've gone funny thank you Eva Charles.
