BREAKER: A Brother's Best Friend Romance (Broody Bad Boys - Silo Springs Standalones) Kindle Edition
“Tell me a happy something, Sutton.”
I was only seven the first time Grady Bowen whispered those words to me. Cloaked by the black sky under a blanket of stars, it was easy to get lost. He didn’t have any good memories of his own and needed to borrow mine. I would willingly give him anything.
Being infatuated with that boy was a beautiful curse. What could have been special didn’t get the chance to bloom. He’d never see me as more than his best friend’s kid sister. That was a hard lesson to learn, but not the most difficult.
Grady had always been struggling against the odds. Eventually he quit fighting and let his family’s reputation own him. Try as I might, those influences were beyond my reach.
He didn’t mean to break my heart. Or maybe he did. I shouldn’t have made it so easy for him. Either way, our wrongs against each other carved new lines between us.
I went four years without seeing Grady—each one more painful than the last. That distance did nothing to dull my feelings toward him. But things are different now. Most noticeably is Grady. I barely recognize this man he’s become. And that’s the way he intends to keep it. Not that it really matters.
Grady Bowen stopped being my happy something long ago.

Sutton returns Grady's feelings but he pushes her away. So Sutton goes off to college.
4 years later and it takes Grady getting hurt and Sutton taking care of him to open his eyes.
A brilliantly written story with excellent characters and a happy ending guaranteed.
I found that I enjoyed this book so much that I couldn't point what was going to happen next, nothing worse than knowing the plot before it happens. I loved that I got a surprise with each page
Other than that, it was written well, just the storyline could have been better.
Sutton is the girl who had everything.
Brought together by the circumstances and ya know, an older brother who happens to be Grady's best friend.
The rocky start to this story had me wondering what kind of loop Harloe was gonna throw in later on. The massive Gent Vibes early on (if you've read Harloes previous work you'll know what I'm talking about) had me hooked, it was like stepping back into my favourite story with new characters, but at the same time there was so many vibes from a few of her other work. Harloe's writing style is consistent yet the content of her stories are forever evolving.
Her characters were sickly sweet but also firmly planted in the down to earth spectrum.
Everything about this book was just all about them feels. There was no whiplash, everything was straight up. No conflict in Sutton and Grady just made falling in love with them that much easier.
With each new release from Harloe Rae its getting harder and harder to keep Gent in the number one spot 😅

Breaker is a standalone novel by Harloe Rae. This is the first book I've read by this author and it was AMAZING!
I fell so in love with Grady and Sutton. I could not get enough of them, they had me swooning all over the place with their story. They had chemistry like no other and all the happy somethings and steam left me feeling giddy.
I could not put this down, it was packed with so much emotion and gave me so many feels. I adored Harloe's words and I will definitely be going back to read more of her books.
I can't recommend this book enough!

They meet as young kids and they were always asking each other to tell one another something Happy as they were growing up.Grady found his Happy something in the end and so did sutton
Breaker is gutwrenching, full of longing and second chances. An adult story about commitment and denial. And yet… it’s so much more. Harloe Rae is one of those authors who doesn’t fit neatly into little boxes, and this story shows off her narrative gifts and her romantic heart.
“His memories are full of smiles.” I LOVE THIS LINE! I want Gray’s future to be so full of smiles too. Rae writes their love story with so much care. She lingers in moments between them, and builds to their intimate scenes of rapture like she’s painting a delicate piece of china. I was blown away.
Truth, I may have groaned a little and sobbed quietly. It’s really gewd. Even the erotic touches are built on a desperate vulnerability, some of Rae’s best heartbreaking and romantic passages.
Everyone should read it. It’s a fantastic portrait of choices, between want and responsibility, between selfish and selfless love. Told with her lyrical style that spins a dark thread of hope and connection. It’s beautiful. You won’t be able to look away.
Breaker beats with so much longing and brutal truths. Grady and Sutton are real and honest, devoted friends driven apart by fate. And I love how they find each other, and find love. Plus, there's a dog. And happy somethings, and sometimes that's all Grady had. Sigh I love this story.
Sutton grew up as the bright buoy to all the chaos and tragedy that Grady swims in most of his life. She sustains him and keeps his head above water. They had a life long relationship built on ritual and trust.
When Sutton leaves, Grady is forced to move on as well. Only after she returns, can they begin to examine themselves and their relationship as adults. The set up to this story is so well told. I loved it. I loved them falling.
“A floating sensation sweeps over me. There’s serenity whisking within the pain.” Yeah, I know. This book is bulging with these moving sensations. Honestly, my emotions were all over the place. Tears and laughter and a lot of heartache, I was pulling for them so much and fighting my own emotional reactions.
Grady and Sutton deserve each other. If you love great leads, a good cry and a angsty love story, you will love Breaker.
I suffered a book-hangover and couldn't find the right words.
At first: it's one of my favorite tropes: brother's best friend.
You really feel from the start, that Grady is Sutton's everything and it doesn't change after the prologue or the first chapter.
I wanted to be in Grady's head after this chapter, no, I really wanted to know what he thought in the prologue. Finally in chapter 2 I got an insight and was lost with the words:
"She's the only happy something in my life."
I fell in love with him.
I wanted to hug him.
He is holding back although he loves her deeply, too. It's not because of said trope. He is feeling unworthy for her because of where he is coming from.
....but he was still hoping....the things he made for her because all of the happy something's they shared a long time ago.
Sutton is so perfect for him!
She's there for him, always was, and showed him that he is more than he thought he is.
There is a tiny bit drama for what happened to Grady. No break-off - thank you! Sutton's and Grady's love never wavers as they started their relationship.
I just want to tell you all: read this book!
I can't wait for Keeper now!
Grady Bowen and Sutton Olsen has loved one another since they've met. Grady is Sutton's brothers best friend and he likes to hear something happy from Sutton since life hasn't been good to him.
They were close as kids but once they become teenagers Grady pushes her away. She offers herself to him the night before she leaves for college. He tells her NO, to forget about him and find someone else. Sutton doesn't...
Sutton comes back home for good 4 years later to find that Grady has changed and not in good way. This breaks her heart until he's in a accident, she helps him and he mends her heart by asking her to be his girl.
Gray and Sutt are in love and want forever until someone else wants her for his own and sets up Grady and sends him to jail. Will the truth set him free or will this be the breaking point for them both?
