Break You - An Enemies to Lovers College Bully Romance (Boys of Trinity Hall Book 1) Kindle Edition

3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars 1,159 ratings

He was once my savior, but now he’s my worst nightmare.

I broke the number one rule on campus—stay away from Xavier Cross and the rest of the Boys of Trinity Hall.

He’s the elite prince who’s coming for everything I’ve ever had, and everyone I love. His idea of foreplay is a target on my back, a noose around my neck, and a deadly game of cat and mouse that could see me lose what I’ve worked so hard to achieve. He’s determined to take me down, and he won’t stop until he breaks me.

I’m no match for his might, his wrath, or the twisted revenge he’s determined to reap on me for something I didn’t even do, but I’m not going down without a fight.

If I go, I’ll take a piece of him with me, because we’re more alike than he wants to admit, and more connected than he ever thought possible. And when he finds out why, it will change the game he thought he was playing forever.

This is not a love story. Or is it?

Break You is the story of a rich bad boy and a girl who knows how to give as good as she gets. It is book 1 of the Boys of Trinity Hall Series, and should be followed by Fake You.

MV ELLIS is well qualified to write happy ever afters—she lives her own every day. She followed her heart halfway around the world when she moved from London to Australia after a steamy holiday romance with a sexy bass player in sultry Brazil. All that for a guy she sat next to on a bus for 36 hours!

Ellis took another gamble in 2017 when she secretly penned her first novel, Catching London, a steaming-hot rock star romance based on her experiences touring internationally as a ‘WAG’ (wives and girlfriends) with various bands, for her husband’s job. After receiving six publishing offers that book, it was released in 2018.

So. Good.
Oh my. This is the first (won't be the last!) book I've read by MV Ellis. And what a book to start with. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC in exchange for an honest review. So, honestly: this book is now one of my favourites. It's one of those books where you are intrigued from the start and you need to know more so you keep turning those pages happily. But it's also one of those books where the further you get in, the faster you want to turn those pages and you just can't put it down. Rocky aka Angry Girl and Xavier aka Loaded Boy hate each other. Plain and simple. But find themselves unable to escape each other. Their hate/hate chemistry is SO good to read. And SO steamy. I love Rocky - she is a very strong take-no-crap kind of character and I love that. She has fought for everything in life. Xavier is someone who you could easily dislike... but dammit... there's just something about a smoking smokin' hot bad boy with tattoos... and the more you find out about him you just can't seem to fully hate him. I loved finding out more about Rocky's past and Xavier's past as the story went on. And oh the tears. And oh the twist! What. A. Book. I'm going to finish with telling you this is a must read, it's hot hot hot and the ending will not disappoint. Now excuse me while I go add all of MV Ellis' books to my WTR list!

Holy crap nugget on a stick!

Hello plot twist! Thanks for that slap in the face!

Where do i even begin? We follow Xavier and Rocky in their tension filled, suspenseful, hot as hell journey! Both from different sides of the track and polar opposites its a beautiful disaster waiting to happen. There is no love loss between the two when they first meet but wow is their sexual tension hotter than satans balls.

Filled with drama, lies, mystery and a plot twist that will blow your mind and slap you upside the head, i swear you will be consumed by this book and spat back out wanting to dive in all over again. With no shortage of surprises, revelations and shocking moments this book has it all and the definition of enemies to lovers in my opinion.

Incredible characters each with their own haunting and heartbreaking pasts, coming together to take us on an amazing ride. Well developed and thought out. Complexities and misconceptions that will have you reeling. Growth on both sides that when they finally hit that peak its a beautiful unravel of their journey as a whole.

I didnt understand how or why a few of the sentences were structured how they were but it didnt detract from the story as a whole. This author is new for me so maybe its their preference, so to each their own.

I highly recommend this book to any bullymance enemies to lover enthusiast or just anyone in general. I absolutely loved this book.

Wow, what did I just read! Xavier and Rocky probably have one of the most messed up, complicated, sexy, heart-pumping hate filled relationship that I have ever read about and I love it! Xavier is portrayed as the quintessential rich, bad boy. Whilst Rocky is from the other side of the tracks, working hard on her scholarship and trying to keep herself above water. They have an instant dislike for each other, but are forced to work together on the Psychology assignment and boy is their hate strong. The story develops really quickly and you see why both of the characters are on different sides of the fence as well as see why Xavier does what he does (holy crap can he be cruel!) There are some secondary characters in this book who (hopefully) are going to have their own book. I would definitely like to see if Pixie gets his comeuppance with a strong woman as he needs to be put in his place!

Not to give too much away, but this is a fast-paced book that keeps you turning pages until the end. You’re also want to get to the end so that you find out what the cliff-hangers are…. Boy were they good! The sexy scenes are super-hot and there are enough of them as to not dominate the book, but boy does Rocky have some sass in these scenes and Xavier comes across as a guy who knows what he’s doing 😉

This is a must read if you like the bully romance/enemies to lover’s type genre.

ARC received for a fair and honest review.

Break You is book 1 in the new series Boys of Trinity Hall; a bully story that is brutal.

Rocky is a fighter; she has been fighting since the day she was born. When she is face to face with Xavier, they have so much hate in their eyes they continue a cat and mouse game which leads to Rocky being put in a very serious situation, one that Xavier enjoyed putting her in.

This is my first MV Ellis novel and while I certainly enjoyed the writing, I have found that I am not a fan of the “Bully” romance.

This first book in the Boys of Trinity Hall series is a bully romance at its absolute best. Xavier and Rocky are explosive and the sparks that fly between these two are not always pleasant. The story is complex and will have you gripping your kindle tighter as the chemistry between these two lights up the pages. Rocky is a feisty and spirited character and is the yin to Rocky's yang. Secrets, lies and twists have you hypnotized by this story and you will not want to put it down. Love and hate are two emotions that are so closely related and are the strongest of emotions that we can experience. Rocky and Xavier walk the fiery line between these two and as the lines finely blur it will be the love that saves their worlds from shattering to pieces. If it is a story that is packed with intrigue, chemistry that is sizzling and a story that will have your mind reeling to a point it just might break you, then one click this amazing story of a love/hate relationship worth fighting for.

I REALLY liked this book and was planing on buying the rest of the series ... until I hit the last 4 to 6 chapters of the story.
Everything suddenly felt so rushed and superficial instead of thought through like the rest of the book.

It is still a good story but because of the way it ended (still a HEA) I will probably not continue the series even though the characters were amazing ... at least for the most part of the book.

O.M.G... This book is a monumental page turner. This is by far one of the best books I’ve read in a really long time. I’m so impress with the writing, the pacing and the vivid descriptions of the characters thoughts and feelings.

This is a really well written novel. MV Ellis knows how to write a book and this proved it. It delivers a compelling plot and well build character development. The characters broke stereotypes and have dynamic relationships with fun dialogues. This book is definitely a hate before, I love you trope.

The book is shockingly fast-paced and fresh as a whip. It’s got complex characters and a fast plot. You find yourself falling prey to Xavier’s dashing looks and yet flinch at the ethical motive of his dark side. He’s a big sturdy guy who, by every definition, is dangerous, rude and obnoxious. He was also a pushover and I didn’t think I was going to like him. At first I wasn’t a big fan, he seemed a little too standoffish and rude. But dang, he handled himself like a champ in bad situations, started to act on his feelings for Rocky and I eventually ended up liking him just as a great deal as I liked Rocky.

I absolutely adored Rocky! She was hilarious, strong, squared off. She was also damaged, guarded, sassy, but by the deities, you root for her every step of the way. You see her grow a backbone, and become the person she is meant to be and it's a compelling transforming.

The author wrote great character growth between these two. They both had awesome chemistry. Rocky and Xavier got together eventually, much later after the tug of war between them, and I’m glad that their relationship didn’t happen Overnight. It was tumultuous, witty, piquant and fun to watch how they both tried to pretend that they hate and not like each other.

This novel had a very compelling plot. It’s a great tale of a two different people who faces off with a very powerful outside force. The built, mystery and suspense in this book is truly well done and I can’t stress it enough.

The plot was unspoiled, and it really flowed. These types of books tend to be boring because too much information is pile and this sometimes makes it complicated, but MV Ellis did a splendid job of smashing this stereotype and turn it into a hit.

So if you're interested in a phenomenal plot and narrative elements, with a building romance, this is your book.

It's worth reading, so please do so.

And that’s the truth.  On one hand, I loved the story, loved the push and pull of their love story.  On the other hand, I was left….wanting more, I guess.  Half the time, I wasn’t sure if I was rooting for Rocky and Xavier to get together or not.  The other half of the time, I was being burned by their explosive feelings.  And there are tons of those, and they jump off the page.  But the stubbornness of Rocky and the douchery of Xavier left me wanting to yell at them to get their heads out of the ass.
However, it’s still a read I would say to check out.  Like I said, the passion and feelings are so intense, and I for sure craved that.  But the sprinkling of the next story line also left me confused a little too.  Over all, still something to add to the collection.

Gives you all feels, its a fiesty sexy power struggle. 😲🥴🤯
