Black Light: Fearless (Black Light Series Book 12) Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 558 ratings

He was the last thing she thought she needed, but she was everything he wanted.

Abused and alone, Kitty had no idea how far she’d have to flee after she finally got the courage to run. She never would have guessed she’d end up halfway around the world, or in the home — much less the arms — of dominant Australian whip-master, Noah Carver.

He knows she’s damaged, that she needs safety and time to heal, but the way her submission calls to him has Noah thinking more about what could be between them than her history.

The only question now is what she fears more: standing up to her abusive ex-dom, or staying with a man she’s afraid to love?

Kitty finally gets away from Ethen, but he continually finds ways to get to her, with her friends seeing the only way for her to recover and feel safe they send her to their friend Noah, in Australia. Arriving Kitty feels trapped, there’s no where to go, but Ethen can’t find her here.
Noah’s never felt a connection, he saw her submissive needs trapped, the problem was she wasn’t anyone’s, he had an idea of how to help her but had to take it slowly.
When Noah tells Kitty that he sees that she’s not anyone’s submissive, but he can help her, she feels the need to be touched, but struggles when he says she needs to ask him for it.
Noah knows that Kitty isn’t his submissive, but can’t shake the feeling he has with her, he wants to help her heal and gain trust again, Noah helps Kitty realises that she can take back everything that was stolen from her, and, be the person she was before Ethen took everything away.
Both Noah and Kitty try to tell themselves that what they have isn’t real, both wanting it to, until Kitty finds out something that may drive her back to Ethen, can Noah convince her she doesn’t have to go back, and he can give her what she needs.

As an Australian I found the slang to be over the top. Ive never in my life heard the word “blokey” and people dont really say ‘fella’ unless theyre over 50 lol. Mainly little things like Noah asking his friend if he’s had his “tucker” honestly no one talks like this it was all very cliche, and I wouldn’t be a true Aussie if I didn’t point out that the “green and brownish” stuff in Kitty’s sandwich that apparently tastes like grass could not have been Vegemite, it was really getting on my nerves that it was described as green and grassy tasting. Like what? Literally what? It was a little distracting for me as I was constantly rolling my eyes, although I am rather pleasantly surprised that Noah did not walk around saying G’day to everyone, so thats something

Having a cruel Dom like Ethan truly pulls you into the horror Kitty endures. Her strength to overcome the trauma he put her through is powerful. My heart cried and cheered for her in equal measure. Noah was her guardian angel but he cared for her have her his strength as much as she needed. This story opens you up and tugs at all your emotions good and bad. An awesome well written story.

This series just keeps getting better...with Maren Smith’s installment we get to read more about what happens to Kitty after the little cliffhanger we had from Shameless (Roulette Redux) where she escapes an abusive Dom, and with the help from friends Kitty is sent to Australia and into the care of Noah.
Noah is an friendly down to earth Dom who has a few simple rules in life and has helped give Kitty a feeling of belonging somewhere but as their friendship develops he finds himself needing more but doesn’t want to scare Kitty off.
This story takes you on an emotional rollercoaster from despair to elation with a couple of moments that give you a smile and hope for Kitty and Noah...I loved this series and would not hesitate to read this one again and again..

Honestly, I don't think there has been a story that I haven't liked in this series. I don't think this story would be to everyone's tastes, as it deals with kitten play & abuse but it is a fantastic read. The characters & their actions/reactions seem so true to life & I love the insight the story gives, particularly into Kitty's mindset. As an Australian, I sometimes struggle with books written by non-Australians that are either set in or include Australian characters but I'm really pleased to say that apart from only a couple of minor annoyances, Noah's character is typical of rural Australian men. Loved the humour in the suggestions that everything in Australia will kill you, but my favourite was the killer koalas!

I love the Black Light series, and Fearless didn’t disappoint.

What an amazing book Ms Smith, couldn’t stop reading once I start it.

Kitty story broke me, her struggles left me breathless, she is a kind of girl you want to pick up and cuddle and never let it go, but with big & bright
warning label stating danger can attack any minute.

Fear is one of the worst feelings you can image, and I felt restless reading Kitty’s story.

Noah tried to help, but Kitty didn’t want open that door yet, so he works like the Observer, protecting and guiding, pushing here and there, pieces like a magnetic field, the attraction is so loud I could feel it in my gut.

Australia spider is the most dangerous in the world!

A light weigh addition to the Blacklight series in my opinion
Noah and kitty’s story is set in an Australia that locals wouldn’t recognise. To me it seemed unresearched and mostly besmirched the country, people, language and food of the country rather that an interesting story
I know that it is a work of fiction but I just couldn’t get into it

Ok I'll start by saying I haven't read all of it but the way Noah has been portrayed does not sit well with this aussie girl.

NO red-blooded Aussie male would give a mate's nickname as "blokey" he would shorten his name to probably Garro. And another thing about us Aussies we don't put "cream" in our coffee or tea we put milk in it.

I know it's nitpicking but when authors get it wrong I have to say something.

What a fantastic story of finding oneself after escaping severe abuse. While the backstory of Kitty is very hard to hear about, it is the story with Noah and Kitty that really enthralled me. I was ecstatic to see Kitty find small ways to reclaim her independence. Noah's patience was unwavering and allowed Kitty to come into her own. Once she was able to gain some confidence, the sexual tension really came into play. The sex scenes were well written and very enjoyable. Maren is masterful in her writing, especially dealing with such sensitive topics. Thank you Maren for a wonderful book. I look forward to seeing what happens to the other characters connected to Kitty.

Kitty's sense of inadequacy is well learned. Abused and mistreated, her whole identity was consumed by a man who only thought he was a dom. Noah Carver doesn't require the trappings she is used to, and his methods of bringing her out of the past are not always easy. But will he convince her that she deserves more? Can Kitty's identity be separated from that of her "animal"?
