An American Cinderella: A Royal Love Story Kindle Edition
Aria has a big heart but bigger problems. Her whole life is a mess thanks to her controlling stepmother. But when she's knocked over- literally- by the hottest man she's ever had the pleasure of tangling up her body with, everything changes.
Henry Prescott, second-string rugby player for the Paradisa Royals, is funny, sweet, charming, and oh-so-sexy. He's got a rock hard body and tackles her in bed as fiercely as he tackled her in the park. Knowing nothing about rugby, but absolutely intoxicated by his accent, she finds herself falling for him.
There's only one problem: Henry Prescott doesn't exist.
The man she thinks she loves is actually Prince Henry, second in line for the throne of the nation of Paradisa. He's the man who Aria's entire department has to impress for trade relations. And that makes Aria's stepmother's plans even more dangerous.
He's the man who could destroy her world or make all her dreams come true.
He lied about being a prince... did he also lie about being in love?
NYT Bestseller Krista Lakes brings you this brand new sweet-and-sexy royal romance. This standalone novel will have you cheering for an American princess's happily ever after.

Things aren't exactly easy for Aria. Evil stepmother constantly on her back and the pressure of protecting her father's legacy... it's enough to make anyone want to scream in rage. And yet Henry is there to help her through the muck. A dashing prince ready to battle anyone in his path. And yet, he is incredible kind and shy at times.
"Am I yours?"
I nodded enthusiastically. "Very much so."
His smile lit my world.
Aw... it makes your heart melt. And yet, you have this anxious and apprehensive feeling lingering in the pit of your stomach. But it's not only evil stepmothers with secrets in their closets... But a fairy in disguise somehow comes to the rescue! And a dragon gets their comeuppance ;)
It's a great new spin on a classic favourite. It brings Cinderella into the modern world which makes it relatable and all the more real. I had strong feelings for some characters. Some which deserved to be slapped... with their own book! It's a real credit to Krista for writing such real characters that cause you to invest yourself into their lives. The blurb and cover were what originally caught my attention but the story within had me hooked from page 1! I'd definitely say that this was a fantastic story.

Aria Ritter works in DC. She is an intern for the Senator, she goes to work one morning and can’t scan the badge to get into the office. She learns she has been terminated and her step mother is the reason. Step mom wants her to gather information to sell and to have Aria in her pocket for profit
Henry is in town to do business. He is a prince and literally runs into Aria as she is in the park. He offers to buy her lunch, she agrees.
All this time her mother wants her back at a dead end job, but the reason is to scan documents and send them to her.
I would have loved to hear what the step mothers punishment would have been.
Other then that it was a good book. Could have done better with less adult content.
Makes me think of the current prince. And the new American woman who shall become a part of the royal family.

I loved watching Aria and Henry, first become friends and then lovers with all the twists and turns that make me want to just keep turning the pages of a book.
I have been a fan of Krista Lakes for a few years now, and this book certainly reminded me why.
Thank you for reading my review.

Unfortunately, I found the remaining characters to be too good/evil for my taste. The prince - though I liked the character - was almost nauseatingly sweet, understanding, helpful and head-over-heels in love with her. He didn't get angry or upset or frustrated even once, which made him an unbelievable character to me. Similarly, the stepmother is pure evil. No redeeming traits, no tragic backstory, no hesitation or the-end-justifies-the-means or whatever. She was just evil and super intelligent, thus foiling our main character's attempts to get free again and again. I found her to be a boring villain. But perhaps this was done by choice to keep the fairytale feeling?
Either which way, it didn't really work for me. But I still liked the story and found it to be a satisfying romantic read - probably helped along by the fact that I love Cinderella stories - but I'm not sure I'll be reading more from the author.

Krista Lakes drew me in with her retelling and writing. I actually wish there was a Paradisa so I could go and find myself a prince. The love that bloomed was one that was true and real. The understanding of ramifications was astounding to see and made me happy Henry was such a great guy. Their loved bloomed over weeks of spending time together and it was deliciously sweet. I hope we get more fairytale retelling from Krista Lakes, because she adds so much originality to them while also keeping to the theme and bringing us another version of beloved characters from the original!
