Alcohol You Later (Booze & Bad Decisions) Kindle Edition
Raven Winters has been infatuated with Nicholas Potter since the day she tacked his poster to her bedroom wall. So, when she discovered the famous drummer was her college roommate’s cousin, it seemed the stars had aligned.
Their attraction was instant, and their chemistry explosive. Unfortunately, Nick wasn’t ready to abandon his rock star lifestyle.
Over the years, she’s become his best friend—with benefits—and favorite source of telephonic relief when the groupies backstage weren’t quite what he was looking for. Those late-night drunken calls kept her holding onto hope.
But all that patience is about to pay off—why else would he invite her to join him on tour, if not to finally confess his feelings?
Too bad, the universe has other plans. It looks like drummer boy’s reckless lifestyle has finally caught up to him—and Raven’s the one stuck toting the diaper bag.

‘Alcohol You Later’ is the story of Nick and Raven and a 100% standalone HEA.
*BUT* we first meet Nick and Raven in ‘Pour Judgement’, Korie and Rhett’s story, so for anyone who likes following interconnected standalones, I do recommend reading that first.
It’s not completely necessary, but Korie and Rhett are prominent secondary characters in Alcohol You Later, so I think having a previous investment in them and their history adds to their appeal as secondary characters in Nick and Ravens story!

How cool is it to be best friends with a famous rockstar? Very cool!
Unless you’re in love with said best friend/rockstar.. then it’s a little less cool.
Raven knows it would be detrimental to her heart to make anything more of their ‘best friends with benefits’ status. Yet she can’t help the physical reaction her body has any time she hears Nick’s voice or the way she can feel when his eyes are on her.
She’s not oblivious to the life of a rockstar, therefore she can’t let herself go there…
Because if things were to end badly.. well, Nick had it rough growing up and Raven refuses to be another person to love and leave him.

“Nick?
“Hmm?”
“I’ll keep you safe”
“And I’ll keep you wild, pretty girl.”

Barely 23% into the story and I was already completely in love with Nicholas Potter. He’s infuriating at times.. theres a deep seeded trauma from his past that keeps him from letting people get close. He won’t allow himself to be vulnerable with anyone… except Raven. ♥️
She sees glimpses of Nick’s vulnerability and knows how rare it is, which is why she made a promise to Nick, and herself, to always be his safe space.. a place he can go when everything else gets too hard. Unfortunately, this doesn’t help keep her heart out of play.
——
When conflict enters the story, Nick knows the only person he can turn to is Raven. *BUT*..
Nick is terrified this situation will be the one that finally sends Raven running.. no matter how many times she’s promised she wouldn’t.

Down to its core, this story is truly beautiful. One of the things I love most about HMO’s writing is, while there is clear conflict between our lead male and female, she allows us to enjoy them being together and working towards a solution rather than having the story end as soon as they get their heads on straight and end up together!
‘Alcohol You Later’ has a perfect mix of first love feels, true friendship, and 🔥 bedroom scenes. AND it’s also REALLY funny!! HMO never fails in the humor department 😂.

Redemption ♥️. That’s what I felt this story was about and it was beautiful watching these characters find it in each other.

This can be read as a standalone, but, I think, reading Pour Judgement makes it more...
Heather Orgeron creates amazing characters, builds a world that draws you in and just doesn't let go, and then she makes you feel. It's fantastic.
Where as I did enjoy this book, it wasn’t my favorite. It held my attention and I didn’t want to put it down, but I did struggle with some aspects of this book. I don’t want to spoil this book to much, or turn people away from reading it, because I did enjoy it. But there were some things that are personal pet peeves of mine that were in it. My main issue was like of a connection to the characters. I liked their story but not them if that makes sense. It reminded me a lot of High School where the guy only likes the girl when it’s convenient for him and he’s lonely, and the poor naïve girl pines after him when he only gives her crumbs. That’s one of my major pet peeves in life and books. So that turned me off a bit.
There were other things, but again no spoilers.
Would I recommend this book to others? Absolutely! I think it’s a good rock star story that people will definitely enjoy.
Raven has felt more for Nick than just friendship for years. She'll take him any way she can get him, even if it's just pieces. It's slowly breaking her, but she is not ready to let go. When Nick asks her to come on tour, she feels like it's finally her chance for them to become more than friends with benefits. However, she could have never prepared herself for what she encounters.
Nick is a good guy. A total mess but no less endearing. He has a good heart but his past leads him to making bad decisions. Our boy will struggle, but he's going to fight to find his way.
This was such a great story. They were friends, but their connection ran deep. They both had feelings invested, but fear of the unknown and the past held them back. Nick will transform from the reckless bad boy we know and still love, into the the man he was meant to be. He'll still be wild but he'll be truly happy.
The author delivered an unforgettable couple with so many special moments, laugh-out loud antics, and I look forward to more of them in future books. I adore this crew and the love they found along the way.
